Today is a day to review, search, rummage and dive into my hard disks... I'm recapping my photos from the last few days of this hot and dry March... I have come across some very diverse photos, some of them had even disappeared from my recent memory and it has been a good thing to find them in my latest archives...

Hoy es día para revisar, buscar, hurgar y sumergirme en mis discos duros... Estoy recapitulando mis fotos de los días corridos de este Marzo caluroso y seco... Me he encontrado con fotos muy diversas, algunas de estas incluso habían desaparecido de mi memoria reciente y ha sido algo bueno encontrarles en mis archivos recientes...

I find absolutely impossible to go through my photographic archives and look at them simply "as photographs"... No, when I'm doing that I'm making a conscious account of my way of thinking, my way of seeing things and my own taste for capturing my surroundings. This almost daily "recording" happens in a way that is closely linked to my mood, to what I like to call "my daily changing psyche"... It is a delicacy for me to recognise my "different selves" while reviewing, selecting and editing my photographs... This is important to me, because since I started taking photographs (especially street photographs) I did it as a method to learn how to discover myself, to look at myself, to find myself... I don't know, however you can say it, but the key in all this is "self-knowledge" and that goes far beyond the photos themselves...

Se me hace absolutamente imposible recorrer mis archivos fotográficos y mirarlos simplemente "como fotos"... No, cuando estoy haciendo eso estoy haciendo un recuento consciente de mi manera de pensar, de mi manera de ver las cosas y de mi gusto propio por registrar mi entorno. Este "registro" casi a diario sucede de manera muy ligada a mi humor, a eso que acostumbro llamar "mi psiquis cotidianamente cambiante"... Es una exquisitez para mi reconocer mis "diversos yo" mientras reviso, selecciono y edito mis fotografías... Esto es importante para mi, porque desde que comencé a hacer fotografías (en especial las callejeras)lo hice como un método para aprender a descubrirme a mi mismo, a mirarme, a encontrarme... No sé, como quiera que se pueda decir, pero la clave en todo esto es "auto-conocimiento" y eso va mucho más allá de las fotos por si mismas...

When I spend long periods of time selecting my photos, images and questions of times gone by come to mind... What would the equivalent of doing this be like during the days of analogue photography?... Then I imagine a photographer similar to me, but he is rummaging through boxes full of negatives of his photos, looking carefully at the labels on his rolls, he goes into a dark room and there he plays to made some poetry with light and shadows... I met someone like that when I was a child, I remember him with difficulty because it was more than four decades ago and his name was "José Dolores", he was a photographer here in the village but he died when I was still a young boy, that's why my memories are blurred... However, I remember him always immersed in a kind of "poetic aura"... Perhaps, there are some, a few I think, in whom street photography awakens this kind of feeling and aspect...

Cuando invierto largos períodos de tiempo en seleccionar mis fotos, se vienen a mi mente imágenes e interrogantes de tiempos pasados... ¿Como sería el equivalente de hacer esto durante la época de la fotografía analógica?... Entonces me imagino a un fotógrafo parecido a mí, pero él está hurgando en cajas repletas de negativos de sus fotos, mira con cuidado las etiquetas de sus rollos, se adentra en un cuarto obscuro y allí juega a hacer algo de poesía con luces y sombras... Conocí a alguien así siendo un niño, lo recuerdo con dificultad pues fue hace más de cuatro décadas y se llamaba "José Dolores", era fotógrafo aquí en el pueblo pero murió cuando yo era aún un jovenzuelo, por eso mis recuerdos son difusos... Sin embargo, le recuerdo siempre inmerso en una especie de "aura poética"... Tal vez, hay algunos, unos pocos creo, en quienes la fotografía callejera despierta ese tipo de sentimientos y aspecto...

And of course I had to turn these photos to black and white!... The colours flee and subtract from the image its essence, its forms, its textures... What a photo says in its crudest and most elementary language, it says in black and white generally... This is something like a "visual, poetic and raw language"... It is not always easy to desaturate a whole group of photos, as I am of the opinion (and I assure you) that some photos relate directly to their original chromaticism. But this is an idea that remains in my head only until the moment when I look at an image in black and white, adjust it and find a meaning different from the first one... I love this and it's part of my "photographic addiction" I confess... So let's look at this in monochrome...

¡Y por supuesto que tuve que virar estas fotos al blanco y negro!... Los colores huyen y resta en la imagen su esencia, sus formas, sus texturas... Lo que una foto dice en su lenguaje más crudo y elemental, lo dice en blanco y negro generalmente... Esto es algo así como un "lenguaje visual, poético y crudo"... No siempre es fácil desaturar todo un grupo de fotos, pues soy del parecer (y lo aseguro) que algunas fotos se relaciona directamente con su cromatismo original. Pero esta es una idea que permanece en mi cabeza solo hasta el momento en el cual viro una imagen al blanco y negro, la ajusto y le encuentro un significado distinto al primero... Esto me encanta y es parte de mi "adicción fotográfica" lo confieso... Así que miremos esto en monocromático...

Oh my gosh, I really enjoy having a place where I can make these kinds of posts... May I take this opportunity to say: "Thank you #Hive for all of this! I mean not only to share my photos here, but also to be able to write at length alongside them... I have understood from some time ago that one builds oneself (or one discovers oneself, rather) in the measure in which one is capable of creating... And for me this is "creation", and this is really a good thing to experience...

Oh cielos, realmente disfruto tener un lugar en donde poder hacer este tipo de publicaciones... Aprovecho para decir: "¡Gracias #Hive por todo esto!"... Me refiero no solo a compartir mis fotos aquí, sino también a poder escribir largamente al compás de ellas... Desde hace algún tiempo entendí que uno se construye a sí mismo (o se descubre, mejor dicho) en la medida en la que es capaz de crear... Y para mi esto es eso "creación" y esto es realmente algo bueno de experimentar...
