North of the town, after the paved streets end, the roads are flat and covered in fog in the mornings... I can't help but notice how slowly time seems to pass when I come here. It's as if the minutes and hours stretch out capriciously, giving me the feeling that I've been traveling a short distance for a long time... Another thing you can feel about time is its abundance. Because here, rushing seems to disappear and is just a memory, as if being in a hurry were something that happened to me in another life or in a very distant past...

Al Norte del pueblo, después de que terminan las calles asfaltadas, los caminos son llanos y en las mañanas están cubiertos con niebla... No puedo evitar cuan lento parece correr el tiempo cuando vengo aquí. Es como si los minutos y las horas se estiraran caprichosamente, haciéndome tener la sensación de haber estado mucho tiempo recorriendo un corto tramo del camino... Otra cosa que se puede sentir con respecto al tiempo, es su abundancia. Porque aquí las prisas parecen desaparecer y son apenas un recuerdo, como si estar apurado fuese algo que me hubiese ocurrido en otra vida o en un pasado ya muy lejano...

When I come to these places, I also remember my time as a technology manager at a corporation, something that stopped happening about 13 years ago. But I can't stop remembering those times because I felt so overwhelmed back then; and one of the things I had the hardest time dealing with was the "lack of time"... Whether it was time needed to do more things at work, not enough time to do everything necessary, time to get home early, free time, time for myself... Yes, all problems almost always seemed to revolve around time... Good heavens, how I needed time back then!

Cuando vengo a estos lugares, también recuerdo mis tiempos como gerente de tecnología en una corporación, eso es algo que dejó ya de suceder hace unos 13 años. Pero no dejo de recordar aquellos tiempos porque me sentía muy agobiado entonces; y una de las cosas que me costaba más manejar, era la "carencia de tiempo"... Ya fuese tiempo necesario para hacer más cosas en el trabajo, tiempo faltante para hacer todo lo necesario, tiempo para llegar temprano a casa, tiempo libre, tiempo para mi mismo... Sí, todos los problemas parecían girar casi siempre al tiempo... Cielos santos ¡Como necesitaba tener tiempo en aquel entonces!...

But now everything is different; I always have enough time... It's been several years since I decided to make changes to my lifestyle, and it's been good. Even today, although I still wake up very early, I do so knowing that I can stay in bed longer if I want to; or even get up and do things slowly and without rushing, because I have plenty of time. And this is even more noticeable when I take my camera and come to walk in places like this, far from the town and full of rural life and nature... Years ago, I could only do this sporadically on weekends or on the few vacation days I used to take during the year... It was while reflecting on all this that I found the title and theme to accompany the photos in this post, by the way...

Pero ahora todo es distinto; mi tiempo siempre es suficiente... Han pasado ya varios años desde que decidí hacer cambios en mi estilo de vida y esto ha sido bueno. Aún hoy por hoy, aunque sigo despertando muy temprano, lo hago sabiendo que puedo quedarme más tiempo en la cama si así lo deseo; o incluso ponerme de pie y hacer las cosas de manera pausada y sin apurarme, pues el tiempo me sobra. Y esto es aún más palpable cuándo tomo mi cámara y vengo a caminar a lugares como este, alejados del pueblo y repletos de ruralismo y naturaleza... Años atrás, solo podía hacer esto esporádicamente algún fin de semana o en los escasos días de vacaciones que acostumbraba a tomar durante el año... Ha sido reflexionado en todo esto que encontré el titulo y tema para acompañar las fotos de esta publicación, por cierto...

These are beautiful landscapes for much of the year, and walking along the paths that cross them reminds me that I started taking photographs as therapy for work-related stress. That “opened the door” to my desire to change my lifestyle, and over time I ended up being able to do this almost every day... Taking photographs also allowed me, and continues to allow me, to reflect at length, meditate, and engage in deep introspection. This allowed me to easily leave a lot of things behind and delve into what I believe was and has always been “my true self,” which is a place where there is very little anxiety and a lot of something I simply call “being present”...

Estos son paisajes hermosos durante gran parte del año; y caminar por los caminos que los atraviesan, me hace recordar que comencé a hacer fotografías como terapia para el estrés laboral. Aquello "abrió la puerta" a mi voluntad para cambiar mi forma de vida y con el tiempo terminé pudiendo hacer esto casi a diario... También el hacer fotografías me permitió y me sigue permitiendo reflexionar largamente, meditar y hacer profunda introspección. Esto me permitió dejar atrás un montó de cosas de manera fácil y adentrarme en lo que creo era y ha sido en todo momento "mi verdadero yo", el cual es un lugar en donde hay muy pocas ansias y un montón de algo que llamo simplemente: "estar presente"...
