Recently, I was fortunate enough to hike far enough to reach the northwestern edge of the Montalbán Valley. There, I found rural areas brimming with enchanting landscapes and various typical country scenes. This is a place I hadn't visited in about three decades, and it has changed considerably since then; what were once orange groves are now pastures, mostly used for cattle grazing. But the place hasn't lost its charm; on the contrary, it seems even more interesting, in my opinion, as the pastures allow the small forests growing along the riverbanks and the mountains on the horizon to gain greater visual prominence and perfectly enhance the overall landscape.

En días pasados tuve la fortuna de poder caminar lo suficientemente lejos para llegar a los limites al noroeste del valle de Montalbán. Allí encontré espacios rurales repletos de paisajes encantadores y de varias escenas campestres típicas de lugares como este. Este es un lugar al cual no había llegado desde hace unas tres décadas y está muy cambiado desde entonces; ya que lo que antes eran plantaciones de naranjas, ahora son pastizales destinado a la cría de ganado vacuno en su mayoría. Pero no por esto el lugar ha perdido su encanto; por el contrario, luce incluso más interesante según mi parecer, pues los pastizales permiten que los pequeños bosques que crecen en las márgenes del río y las montañas en el horizonte, cobren mayor relevancia visual y realcen el conjunto paisajístico de manera perfecta...

Once I arrived at the entrance to this valley, I had to enter some private properties to photograph the landscape from the best possible angle. However, this wasn't a problem for me at all; I simply had to pass through the gates in the wire fences, and the people there greeted me without asking any questions. If there's one charming thing about my town and its surroundings, it's that a guy with a camera seems to be welcomed and received amicably almost everywhere. Furthermore, these are small, humble properties, and the people in these rural areas are very friendly. In fact, someone who seemed to be the owner of the land and livestock approached me, greeted me, and suggested I photograph his tiny piglets, just a few days old, his lazy cat sleeping under a disassembled window, and his cows in the pastures and corrals. So, in addition to landscape photos, I had all of this to enjoy and share with you here on #Hive...

Una vez llegué a las puertas de este valle, tuve que entrar en algunas propiedades privadas con el objetivo de hacer fotos del paisaje desde el mejor ángulo posible. Sin embargo, esto no fue ningún problema para mi y tan solo tuve que traspasar los portales de las alambradas y las personas allí me saludaron sin hacer preguntas. Sí algo encantador tiene mi pueblo es sus alrededores, es que un tipo con una cámara en la mano parece ser bien vito y recibido amistosamente en casi cualquier lugar. Además, estas son propiedades pequeñas y humildes, y las personas de estos campos de aquí, son muy amistosos. De hecho, alguien que me pareció del dueño delos terrenos y el ganado, se acercó a mi y me saludó y me recomendó fotografiar sus pequeños cerdos con pocos días de nacidos, su gato perezoso que duerme bajo un ventanal desmontado y sus vacas en los potreros y corrales. Así que además de fotos de paisajes, tuve todo esto para disfrutar y compartir con ustedes aquí en #Hive...

Under the eaves of a house's roof, a horse rested, and I even saw tobacco plants hanging beneath the sheds, so that the warmth of the sunlight would dry their leaves without damaging them, allowing them to be used to roll hand-rolled cigars, which are highly prized by rural workers here...

Bajo el alero del techo de una casa descansaba un caballo e incluso pude observar plantas de tabaco colgadas bajo los cobertizos, con la intención de que el calor de la luz solar seque sus hojas sin dañarlas y así poder utilizarlas para liar cigarros artesanalmente, los cuales son muy apreciados por los trabajadores rurales aquí...

At the end of the lovely path lined with bushes, you reach a small stream which marks the beginning of the hills surrounding the valley. There's a path there that I'll surely be exploring in the coming days, as I imagine it offers beautiful views of the farmland and pastures throughout the valley...

Al final del bonito camino rodeado de arbustos, se llega aun riachuelo el cual marca el comienzo de las colinas que rodean el valle. Allí hay camino cuyo trayecto estaré recorriendo seguramente en días venideros, pues me parece que desde allí ha de haber lindas vistas de las tierras de cultivo y ganadería de todo el valle...
