We street photographers are, for the most part, guys with some kind of "superpower" which allows us to understand things more deeply and even more intuitively than other people do. At least that's how it seems to me after all these years I've been taking photos on the streets of my town... And when I affirm this I do not do it speculatively, I say it with "the donkey's hairs in my hand" (a typical phrase of my country, which means: "I am totally certain of this because I have evidence"). And it happens that there are times when this ability to see everything in a more understanding way is evident. For example, recently when I was taking a photo (in 📷 05 of this post, coincidentally) of a window of an ugly semi-abandoned building in a neighborhood north of the town, then a person approached me and said: Sorry friend, but why are you taking a photo of that ugly window?... Listening to him, I stopped pointing at the window with my camera, looked that person in the eyes and smiled while answering him: It's the window of the Apocalypse!... 🤣

Nosotros los fotógrafos callejeros somos, en su gran mayoría, tipos con algún tipo de "superpoder" el cual nos permite entender las cosas de manera más profunda e inclusive más intuitiva que como lo hacen otras personas. Cuando menos así es como me parece a mi después de todos estos años que llevo haciendo fotos en las calles de mi pueblo... Y cuando afirmo esto no lo hago de manera especulativa, lo digo con "los pelos del burro en la mano" (una frase típica de mi país, la cual quiere decir: "tengo total certeza de esto porque tengo pruebas"). Y es que sucede que hay ocasiones en las que es evidente esta capacidad para ver todo de una manera más comprensiva. Como por ejemplo recientemente cuando me encontraba haciendo una foto (en la 📷 05 de este post, casualmente) de una ventana de un feo edificio semi-abandonado en un barrio al norte del pueblo, entonces una persona se me acercó y me dijo: Disculpa amigo, pero ¿para qué estás haciendo una foto de esa ventana tan fea?... El escucharlo, dejé de apuntar hacia la ventana con mi cámara, miré a esa persona a los ojos y sonreí mientras le contestaba: ¡Es la ventana del Apocalipsis!... 🤣

Before taking street photos, I used to mainly take photos of natural landscapes and macros of small creatures and plants. That is a type of photos which can be done quite correctly even from the first times we try them as it seems to me. Especially those of open landscapes with a view to the horizon and other similar ones are usually -in my opinion- a very good type of photos to take in a relaxed way and still achieve good results... But once I started exploring the streets everything changed, because in this environment the photos need more of the psyche of the person who captures them. I'm referring to that point where you start to "use the photo to express something" and it's because of this that, between seriously and jokingly, I refer to this as some kind of superpower...

Antes de hacer fotos callejeras, yo solía hacer principalmente fotos de paisajes naturales y macros de pequeñas criaturas y plantas, ese es un tipo de fotos las cuales pueden hacerse de manera bastante correcta incluso desde las primeras veces que uno las intenta, según me parece. En especial las de paisajes abiertos con vista al horizonte y otras similares suelen ser -a mi juicio- un tipo de fotos muy buenas para hacer de una manera relajada y aún lograr buenos resultados... Pero una vez comencé a explorar las calles todo cambió, pues en este entorno las fotos necesitan más de la psiquis de la persona que las captura. Me refiero a ese punto en el que se comienza a "utilizar la foto para expresar algo" y es debido a esto que, entre en serio y en broma, me refiero a esto como algún tipo de super poder...
