Out there there are people playing their daily role, waking up every day and showing their faces to the streets of the town in a praiseworthy effort to maintain their joys, those same joys which are threatened by an almost gray reality, that which like an indecipherable specter knocks on their doors from time to time.

Allí afuera hay personas representando su papel cotidiano, despertándose a diario y asomando sus rostros a las calles del pueblo en un esfuerzo loable por mantener sus alegrías, esas mismas alegrías las cuales se ven amenazadas por una realidad casi gris, esa que como un espectro indescifrable toca a sus puertas de vez en cuando.

Black and White is something which seems to be offered daily as a necessary option to record what happens in these streets. It's true, in color they are also something nice to see... But when you look at these black and white images there is an "intimate" effect which immediately makes you think about the character of what is happening, and we even get close to the psyche of those in the picture.

El Blanco y Negro es algo que parece ofrecerse a diario como una opción necesaria para registrar lo que sucede en estas calles. Es cierto, a color son también algo lindo de ver... Pero cuando miras estas imágenes en blanco y negro hay un efecto "intimo" el cual te pone a cavilar de inmediato en el carácter de lo que está sucediendo, e incluso llegamos a colocarnos cercanos a la psiquis de aquellos que están en dicha foto.

I enjoy in a strange (and perhaps a little crazy) way moving almost furtively through these streets. Sometimes I need to take pictures from afar, as if avoiding getting involved in them and becoming a simple recorder of the daily happenings of those streets wanting to wake up and of their inhabitants, human or not, proposing to challenge one more day of an existence which perhaps they do not fully understand.

Disfruto de manera extraña (y quizás un poco loca) desplazándome casi furtivo por estas calles. A veces necesito hacer las fotografías desde lejos, como evitando implicarme en ellas y convirtiéndome en un simple registrador del acontecer cotidiano de aquellas calles queriendo despertarse y de sus habitante, humanos o no, proponiéndose desafiar una jornada más de una existencia la cual quizás no entienden del todo.

Then the sun comes out and that "furtive" effect fades away as all the pleasant things that happen in these latitudes... It doesn't last long, but it happens often. Then it is better to return home and wait for a new dawn wrapped in cotton balls of fog, one that allows you to hide and record what is happening without being recorded in return...

Después el sol se viene y ese efecto "furtivo" se desvaneces como todas las cosas agradables que ocurren en estas latitudes... No dura mucho, pero sucede con frecuencia. Entonces es mejor retornar a casa y esperar por un nuevo amanecer envuelto en algodones de niebla, uno que permita esconderse y registrar lo que ocurre sin ser registrado a cambio...

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.

NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
