Today I invite you to enjoy a long walk on a foggy morning, through the rural roads that cross the valley north of my town Montalbán (Carabobo, Venezuela). I do this to exercise, of course, but also to take tons of photographs. In that place (called "Montero" by some and "La Monterosa" by others), photographs "happen" one after another without stopping, especially on those mornings when the fog visits us and transforms everything visible with its magic...

Hoy te invito a disfrutar de una larga caminata en una mañana de niebla, a través de los caminos rurales que surcan el valle al Norte de mi pueblo Montalbán (Carabobo, Venezuela). Esta lo hago para ejercitarme, como no, pero también para hacer fotografías por montones. Y es que, en ese lugar (llamado por algunos "Montero" y por otros "La Monterosa") las fotografía "ocurren" una tras otra sin detenerse, en especial en esas mañanas cuando la niebla nos visita y transforma todo lo visible con su magia...

As you can see, in this place everything becomes a photograph and at the same time a small story happening before the eyes of those who know how to observe these rural corners... I make this tour frequently and, over time, I learned that I should not come here without my camera, because if I do, I simply know that "I miss out on a lot of photos to take."

Como pueden ver, en este lugar todo se transforma en una fotografía y al mismo tiempo en una pequeña historia ocurriendo en frente de la mirada de quien sepa como observar estos rincones rurales... Yo hago este recorrido con frecuencia y, con el paso del tiempo, aprendí que no debo venir aquí sin mi cámara, pues si lo hago, simplemente sé que "me pierdo de un montón de fotos para hacer"...

On mornings like this, light is a difficult issue to manage. So it's necessary to have a very bright lens on hand and work with frank, generous, and wide apertures. At least for me, I like to capture this type of photographic record this way. This time, for example, I took all these photos with a 100mm prime lens for macro photography (yes, I've gotten used to using this type of lens for things I don't use often), and this makes me think a lot before each photo, especially those in which I try to capture not only specific elements but also the surroundings. But fortunately, after so many years taking photos with prime lenses on the streets, I've already learned certain skills for managing distances and simply making sure I'm in the right place based on what I have on hand to shoot.

En mañanas como esta, la luz en un tema difícil de gestionar. Así que es necesario tener a la mano un lente muy luminoso y trabajar con aperturas de diafragma francas, generosas y amplias. Cuando menos a mi, me gusta hacer este tipo de registro fotográfico así. Esta vez, por ejemplo, hice todas estas fotos con un lente de focal fija 100mm para macro fotografía (sí, me he acostumbrado a usar este tipo de objetivos para cosas las cuales no se usa con frecuencia) y esto hace "pensar un montón" antes de cada foto, en especial aquellas en las que procuro captar no solo elementos puntuales, sino también el entorno. Pero afortunadamente yo, después de tantos años haciendo fotos con focales fijas en las calles, ya tengo ciertas habilidades aprendidas para manejar las distancias y simplemente procurar estar en el lugar adecuado según lo que tengo a mano para disparar.
