FRAGMENTS - MONOMAD - PHOTOGRAPHY SERIES || ENG-ESP || (10 pics)
It's necessary —at least for me— to always carry my camera, because the streets are always conspiring to say something...
📷 01 - Washing machine rental at home... / Alquiler de lavadoras a domicilio... 🤷♂
Yes, I'm not kidding, it's common here for people to "rent" their washing machines to other people's homes and even deliver them on motorcycles... Anything goes as long as they get some money for the day's expenses!.
📷 02 - Our daily "water"... / El "agua" nuestra de cada día...
Taking street photos in a town like mine can't be exempt from "people carrying water on almost every street", and here, in the 21st century, there are a lot of houses that don't have water through the pipes... 🤷♂
📷 03 - Child in anarchic street with a tricycle... / Niño en calle anárquica con triciclo...
Can you imagine seeing this scene and not having my camera? I'd faint! 😂... It's a street full of harsh lights and chaotic shadows, some backlighting, a tricycle loaded with junk, and a child appearing out of nowhere with a mischievous face...
¡Me desmayaría! 😂...
📷 04 - Wheel and shadow contact... / Contacto de rueda y sombra...
And speaking of tricycles, they've been everywhere these days. People are making them from old delivery bikes... And they're always great for a photo! 😀📷
📷 05 - "Romeo", Lina's dog, looks at me breathlessly...
Call me crazy if you want, but whenever I see "Romeo," Lina's friendly dog, I get the feeling he's holding his breath. In fact, I jokingly tell Lina: "Hey, your dog Romeo must be a robot, he never seems to be breathing!" 😂
📷 06 - Lina's "dramatic" window... / La "dramática" ventana de Lina...
And speaking of my friend Lina, she cooks with firewood, so one of her windows surrounded by soot, which faces the street, can really look interesting under certain lighting conditions and viewed from the front... 🙂
📷 07 - Synopsis on the street of the vegetable kiosk...
That "vegetable kiosk street" is impossible to walk down without seeing a photo of it happening there!... Look at this one in particular: The sign, a car tire for sale, a guy passing by on his old bicycle and carrying a large sack with who knows what things, some bananas visible under the cyclist's arm... Quite charming and it happens all the time!
📷 08 - Indecipherable... / Indescifrable...
A chair, a table, a mirror on the wall, an electric grinder, a bottle cut into a funnel, fuel cans, a hand-operated crane... I have no idea what they're doing in that place! I'll have to go back and investigate later... 😂
📷 09 - Everyday Neighborhood: Elvin and his mother clear weeds from their street...
I've seen this scene for over 45 years... This is happening just a few blocks from my house. It's Elvin, my childhood friend, helping his mother keep their street clear of weeds...
📷 10 - 80's bus... / ¡olectivos de los 80...
And I've seen these old buses for over 45 years too!... 😂

A lot of your photos are shocking, not because they are not good. They are excellent, you're an exceptional talent, but the reality you show is shocking. If I were to choose, I'd pick the dog and the last one, the bus. My nephew, who's dream was to become a bus driver (he's driving a bus now), would be happy to see and drive such an old bus, but it's sad. In the era of electronic, air conditioned busses, to see such an old piece ...
Hello @erikah, my friend! Thank you so much for your visit and for your appreciation of my photography work and the way I do it. This is motivating for me! 🙏 Yes, I confess that it's often difficult to remain optimistic, or at least happy, when I walk the streets. People here have "grown accustomed" to it and see it as completely normal. But in my case, I'm aware of the profound shortcomings that exist here. Perhaps that's why taking photos is also a very particular life experience for me. I've thought about leaving; more than half of our relatives already live outside this country, including my oldest son and grandchildren, but I'm still "a stranger guy" in many ways, and it's hard for me to leave this town. There is so much drama here, that sometimes I think I have become addicted (photographically speaking) to what happens here... In fact, there are harsher realities here than those I usually photograph, but I have not yet felt bold enough to enter the most marginalized spaces of this town and take pictures there... For the moment, things like that friendly dog and that old bus that your nephew would surely like 😀🙏, soften my days of wandering the streets taking pictures... By the way, I went to university in those old buses more or less 35 years ago! 😮... I never imagined seeing them still working daily in my 50s!... This here is really strange sometimes! 😄... Thanks again for your visit and sorry for the very long answer, but this is a topic that makes me write at length... Greetings and blessings!...

Never be sorry for a long reply, you're one of the most genuine people I know here.
It is indeed sad, that people have to live in those conditions and makes you think what the hell governments are doing as the country is going backwards and anyone who says otherwise is lying.
My nephew would be happy to own such a bus, but to go to Oldsmobile exhibitions, not to actually work on one. Those buses would worth a lot here, if in upgraded, good condition, but again, not serving as public transport means.
I understand you don't want to leave. Starting over in a foreign country at a certain age is not Disneyland and would make your days difficult. I and so many others, you included, can only hope this madness will be over soon, but just like in Cuba, God knows when that day will come.
Keep those photos coming as you also keep me informed about what life is like over there.
Have a blessed weekend my friend!
Thanks a lot for appreciating my work @stresskiller friend!

Such remarkable moments of the life of a town!
Thanks a lot for appreciating my work dear @deeanndmathews friend!... Sending hugs and best wishes for this weekend!!!!
And hugs and best wishes returned for your weekend too!
That's maybe more risky to let washing machine for rent because for me I do not like other peoples clothes in my washing machine.
I also find it somewhat inappropriate, but here in my town you see these things and even stranger ones! 🙂🤷♂... Thank you so much for stopping by and appreciating my work!
Congratulations. Today's #monomad third place is yours.
Thank You very much for participating and for being part of the Black And White Community!
