Frequently, I use my street walks as a kind of period for free thought and introspection. I mean that I can go through the streets of this small town taking pictures and, at the same time, think about things that move away from what could be considered common. These are things I have always thought about since I was young, even since I was a child; things that, over the years, became necessary for me to think about more and more, as if it were a skein of highly tangled yarn, which has been untangling as I think about them... And, curiously enough, I frequently think that: if people knew some of the things I think about while I am taking photographs on the street, perhaps they would brand me as crazy, perhaps they would collect signatures for me to be institutionalized, or perhaps, and with some reason, they would treat me with more care. Because it happens that the things I think about range from the feasibility that everything I observe is actually nothing more than a "personal interpretation" of the world, which I alone see that way but in reality does not exist except for me alone; passing through the fact that "I am not actually this guy walking down a street taking pictures" but that I am a kind of consciousness—non-human, without identity, without form, just a kind of "observer" experiencing one among several existences through a character; and even coming to think that everything I observe already happened, and that I simply "go along" this kind of segment, believing that time passes as I walk through it, but time itself being a kind of "one more illusion" within this system of temporary things... Weird, right? Well, today I wanted to write it down and share it with you to accompany these photos, this "EXPOSED GAZE," which, as you can see, has a background that goes beyond the photos themselves...

Con frecuencia uso mis recorridos callejeros como una especie de períodos de pensamiento libre y de introspección. Me refiero a que puedo ir por las calles de este pequeño pueblo haciendo fotos y, al mismo tiempo, ir pensando en cosas que se alejan de lo que podría considerarse común. Se trata de cosas en las cuales siempre pienso desde joven, incluso desde que era un niño; las cuales, con el paso de los años, me fueron necesarias pensar más y más, como si se tratase de una madeja de hilos de estambre muy enredados, los cuales se han ido desenredando en la medida en la que los pienso... Y, como cosa curiosa, con frecuencia pienso que si las personas supieran algunas de las cosas que pienso mientras voy haciendo fotografías por la calle, quizás me tacharían de loco, quizás colectarían firmas para que me internase o quizás, y con cierta razón, me tratarían con más cuidado. Porque sucede que las cosas que pienso van desde la factibilidad de que todo lo que observo en realidad no es más que una "interpretación personal" del mundo, la cual yo solo veo así pero en realidad no existe sino para mí únicamente; pasando por el hecho de que "yo no soy en realidad este tío que va por una calle tomando fotos", sino que soy una especie de consciencia —no humana, sin identidad, sin forma, solo una especie de "observador" que experimenta una entre varias existencias a través de un personaje—, y hasta llegando a pensar que todo lo que observo ya ocurrió, y que yo simplemente "voy recorriendo" esta especie de segmento, creyendo que el tiempo pasa a medida que lo recorro, pero siendo el tiempo mismo una especie de "ilusión más" dentro de este sistema de cosas temporales... ¿Raro, no? Bueno, hoy quise escribirlo y compartirlo con ustedes para acompañar estas fotos, esta "MIRADA EXPUESTA", que, como pueden ver, tiene un trasfondo que va más allá de las fotos mismas...

They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7}
