After several days of not daring to face the high temperatures, the embracing sun and the clouds of dust kicked up by the wind, I felt like walking in the hills near my village. So I hydrated correctly and dressed in protective clothing to avoid getting my skin burnt by the midday sun's rays...

Después de varios días sin atreverme a desafiar las altas temperaturas, el sol abrazador y las nubes de polvo levantadas por el viento, me he sentido con ganas de caminar por las colinas cercanas a mi pueblo. Así que me hidraté correctamente y me vestí con ropa lo suficientemente protectora como para evitar sufrir quemaduras en mi piel debido a los rayos del sol del mediodía...

An old stray dog accompanies me for a stretch of the road, but then the animal decides to return to the village, I imagine scared off by the heat and the fact that I didn't seem to have any kibble with me :).... As soon as I get a little further along the dusty road, I start to observe small wonders that defy the drought... Tiny bricklayer wasps use the leaves of the bamboo to build their homes underneath them... Trees intertwine in a small forest that has managed to survive the fires...

Un viejo perro callejero me acompaña un tramo del camino, pero después el animal decide regresar al pueblo, Imagino que ahuyentado por el calor y el hecho de que yo no parecía llevar croquetas conmigo :)... Apenas adentrarme un poco en el camino polvoriento, comienzo a observar pequeñas maravillas que desafían la sequía... Las diminutas avispas albañil usan las hojas del bamboo para construir bajo ellas sus casas... Los árboles se entrelazan deshojados en un pequeño bosque que ha logrado sobrevivir a los incendios...

I did this hike to take photos, after all that's what I like to do most when I go for a walk. So my photos are mostly aimed at capturing natural details and abstractions.... The plants offer a range of exquisite shapes and small miracles to photograph, the same goes for the path and the leafless bushes...

Hice esta caminata para hacer fotos, después de todo es lo que más me gusta hacer cuando salgo a caminar. Así que mis fotos van en su mayoría apuntando a la captación de detalles naturales y abstracciones... Las plantas ofrecen una gama de formas y pequeños milagros exquisitos de fotografiar, lo mismo sucede con el camino y los matorrales deshojados...

When I started to do this walk I did it thinking that there would be few to photograph... But meter by meter I found "pictures happening all around me", I guess this is one of the advantages of developing what I call "photographic mind" which helps me to always have pictures to take even when I am in places where I don't expect such a thing...

Cuando comencé a hacer esta caminata lo hice pensando que habría pocas para fotografiar... Pero metro a metro hallé "fotos ocurriendo a mi alrededor", supongo que esta es una de las ventajas que tiene el desarrolla eso que llamo "mente fotográfica" lo cual me sirve para siempre tener fotos por hacer aún estando en lugares en donde no espero tal cosa...

There was a moment when I decided to look down into the valley and I was overwhelmed by the impact of the severe drought on the pastures of an old farm where cattle and horses are kept, it is simply breathtaking... Some young trees can't stand the absence of rain and die, but at the same time life defies the harsh climate and I observe a small butterfly camouflaged on its trunk, I think that the individuals that withstand these conditions are the strongest of their species and are vital for the preservation of it... Two little dried flowers look like tiny suns and give me a charming photo...

Hubo un momento en el que decidí mirar hacia el valle y me sentí sobrecogido por el impacto de la severa sequía en los pastizales de una vieja granja donde crían ganado vacuno y caballos, es algo simplemente impresionante... Algunos árboles jóvenes no soportan la ausencia de lluvia y mueren, pero al mismo tiempo la vida desafía la dureza del clima y observo una pequeña mariposa camuflada en su tronco. Pienso que las los individuos que soportan estas condiciones, son los más fuertes de su especie y son vitales para preservar la especie... Dos florecillas secas parecen soles diminutos y me regalan una foto encantadora...

Vegetation fires have been frequent this year, so it is easy to find areas devastated by them... Curiously, these same fires make it easy to reach places where rocks have been left uncovered on the surface of which can be seen some petroglyphs made by the native settlers of the region in times before colonisation. It is regrettable that these glyphs are not protected and many of them have been vandalised... On the way home I notice an aerial root with strange bulbs, this is something I have not seen before. I will have to look in botany pages to find out what kind of plant does this.... I have said it before "there is always something new"....

Los incendios de vegetación han sido frecuentes este año, así que es fácil encontrar áreas devastadas por ellos... Curiosamente, estos mismos incendios hacen que sea fácil llegar a lugares en donde han quedado descubiertas rocas sobre cuya superficie se pueden observar algunos pretroglifos hechos por los pobladores nativos de la región en épocas anteriores a la colonización. Es lamentable que estos glifos no estén protegidos y muchos hayan sido vandalizados... Ya de regreso a casa observo una raíz aérea con extraños bulbos, esto es algo lo cual no había visto antes. Tendré que buscar en páginas de botánica para saber que tipo de planta hace esto... Ya lo dije antes "siempre hay algo nuevo"...
