Today was a busy day, but a little after 4:30 PM I was finally able to come to my small studio at my mother's house, sit down at my PC, and relax while listening to some music and processing some of my recent photos...

And while doing this, I decided that I had a lot of photos of doors in my files and that today was the day to work on them and share them... First, I selected the photos, then processed and edited them in color one by one, but I couldn't resist looking at some of them in black and white and I was delighted, so I decided to do the same with all the photos, and that's how I ended up creating this post for you on #Hive!

Hoy tuve un día repleto de compromisos, pero ya un poco después de las 4:30 PM pude venir a mi pequeño estudio que tengo en casa de mi madre, sentarme en frente de mi PC y relajarme a placer mientras escuchaba algo de música y procesaba algunas de mis fotos recientes...

Y haciendo esto, decidí que muchas fotografías de puertas en mis archivos y que hoy era el día para trabajar en estas fotos y compartirlas... Primero seleccioné las fotos, luego las procesé y edite a color una por una, pero no pude resistir la tentación de mirar algunas de ellas en blanco y negro y quedé encantado, así que decidí también hacerlo mismo con todas las fotos y es así como terminé creando esta publicación para ustedes en #Hive!...

As you can see, these are relatively old doors in most cases, and here in my town (Montalbán, Carabobo, Venezuela) every door tells a story.

📷 01 - In a ruined house where one of the town's first private schools operated until the mid-1970s.
📷 02 - Behind that door was an art studio where some local painters trained, and it was open until the late 1990s.
📷 03 - Behind that door was the "Blue Danube Bar" until well into this century. A place well-known for hosting cockfights, which (fortunately) have been losing popularity over the years.
📷 04 - Main door of the "Plácido" family home on the western edge of town.
📷 05 - Door of the house of Mrs. María, who, incidentally, was one of the last midwives in the town and assisted women in childbirth in their own homes.
📷 06 - One of the entrance doors to the old main house of the "Hacienda el Reposo," founded in 1840 and now abandoned.

Como pueden ver, se trata de puertas relativamente antiguas en la mayoría de los casos, y aquí en mi pueblo (Montalbán, Carabobo, Venezuela) todas las puertas me cuentan una historia..

📷 01 - En una casa en ruinas en donde funcionó una de las primeras escuelas privadas del pueblo hasta mediados de los años 70 del siglo pasado.
📷 02 - Detrás de esa puerta funcionó el taller de pintura artística en donde algunos pintores locales se formaron, y estuvo abierta hasta finales de los 90.
📷 03 - Detrás de esa puerta funcionaba el "Bar Danubio Azul" hasta bien entrado este siglo. Un lugar bien conocido por celebrarse allí riñas de gallos, las cuales (afortunadamente) han venido perdiendo popularidad a lo largo de los años.
📷 04 - Puerta principal de la casa de la familia "Plácido" en las márgenes Oeste del pueblo.
📷 05 - Puerta de la casa de la Sra. María, quien por cierto fue una de las ultimas comadronas del pueblo y asistía el parto de las mujeres en sus propias casas.
📷 06 - Una delas puertas de acceso a la antigua casa principal de la "Hacienda el Reposo" fundada en 1840 y hoy en estado de abandono.

I love doors (and windows too, by the way), and I prefer them in black and white to color, but I have to confess that I like the ones I selected today in both styles. It's no coincidence that doors are on my "list of photographic fetishes"...

📷 07 - Current door of the house where, from the 1950s until the late 1970s, a local man named "Perucho" showed movies using an old projector he had bought during a trip to Caracas (the country's capital). The place is still referred to today as "Perucho's cinema."
📷 08 - Door of a house where I used to buy cookies. Two elderly women lived there, known for the excellent flavor of their pastries.
📷 09 - Behind that door lived one of my best childhood friends, whom we all called "Tomato" because of his red face. Today the house is empty. My friend and his family emigrated to their native Spain many years ago.
📷 10 - The door of the old "Carpintería del Maestro Ríos", whom I met almost half a century ago when I was just a little boy and he was an old man recognized for the quality of his carpentry work, in addition to being an excellent and noble person.

Me encantan las puertas (y las ventanas también, por cierto) y me gustan más en blanco y negro que a color, pero tengo que confesar que estas que seleccioné hoy, me gustan de ambas maneras. No por nada las puertas forman parte de mi "lista de fetiches fotográficos"...

📷 07 - Puerta actual de la casa en donde desde los los años 50 y hasta finales de los 70, un poblador llamado "Perucho" pasaba películas usando un viejo proyector que había comprado durante un viaje hecho a Caracas (la capital del país). El lugar sigue aún hoy siendo referenciado como "el cine de Perucho".
📷 08 - Puerta de una casa en donde yo iba a comprar galletas. Allí vivían dos ancianas reconocidas por el excelente sabor de su repostería.
📷 09 - Detrás de esa puerta vivía uno de mis mejores amigos de mi infancia, al cual todos llamábamos "Tomate" por su cara roja, hoy la casa está vacía. Mi amigo y su familia hace ya muchos años que migraron a su España natal.
📷 10 - Las puerta de la antigua "Carpintería del Maestro Ríos", a quien conocí hace casi medio siglo atrás cuando yo era apenas un chiquillo y él era un anciano reconocido por la calidad de su trabajo de ebanistería, además de ser excelente y noble persona.
