DAYS IN JULY - (PHOTOGRAPHY STORIES)

The first half of July has passed, enough time for one to speak of 'DAYS IN JULY' now... Yesterday, the school year ended in practically all the schools in town; the kids no longer have to attend classes and are on vacation: they wake up late, and their absence in the mornings adds yet another silence to the streets of this town, accustomed to emptiness... People notice all of this, and some, instead of greeting me, look me in the eye and say something like: 'The day is sad,' and then they continue on their way. But I remain here, appearing somewhat indolent, because calling myself 'equanimous' seems too benevolent even to myself. And I take photos, which is what I like, and—as is my habit—I relentlessly scrutiny the spaces, the fleeting joys, and the persistent sadness. Yes, the town seems sadder these days, but it does not stop bringing forth photographs as if it were an unyielding spring, which ignores recent events and keeps doing its thing against all odds... Once again, I think to myself, I have had the luck of the mad, that which takes the side only of those who walk along the edges, praying to God, to heaven, or to destiny, to simply 'free him from sanity,' and that 'the rest is pure profit,' just as they say around here...

This time I let myself be carried away by the story behind the photo, the Semeruco from the 70s, how nice to know that it did not give up after being cut down 3 times
