These are photographs taken this morning by me... Today I woke up with the need to do something “photographically different” and (I don't know why) the word “brutalism” was installed in my head from the moment I was washing my face in the bathroom... So I immediately thought: where am I going to get a brutalist design building here in my town?... But, still not having an answer to my question, I took my camera and went out into the street in the middle of the today's cloudy morning....

Estas son fotografías tomadas en la mañana de hoy por mi... Hoy desperté con la necesidad de hacer algo "fotográficamente distinto" y (no sé porqué razón) la palabra "brutalismo" se instaló en mi cabeza desde el mismo momento en el que estaba lavando mi cara en el baño... Así que de inmediato pensé: ¿De donde voy a sacar un edificio de diseño brutalista aquí en mi pueblo?... Pero, aún sin tener respuesta a mi pregunta, tomé mi cámara y salía a la calle en plena mañana nublada...

Obviously I wasn't going to find here any building of brutalist architecture, those things don't grow in the streets from one day to the next and here in Montalbán even less! 😂... But, while I wandered through the streets east of town, the tall concrete tribunes of the soccer stadium emerged before me as if by miracle... I have to confess that I let out a thunderous laugh and almost ran towards the entrance of that sports complex! 😂... Well, this wasn't exactly what I would have liked for brutalist-themed photos, but there was plenty of naked concrete, straight lines, textures and a lot of minimalism enough for me to spend a couple of hours taking photos there... And that's what I did then!...

Obviamente que no iba a encontrar aquí ningún edificio con arquitectura brutalista, ¡esas cosas no crecen en las calles de un día para otro y aquí en Montalbán mucho menos! 😂... Pero, mientras deambulaba por las calles al Este del pueblo, las altas tribunas de concreto del estadio de futbol surgieron ante mí como por milagro... ¡Tengo que confesar que solté una carcajada atronadora y casi corrí hacia la entrada de ese recinto deportivo! 😂... Bien, esto no era precisamente lo que me hubiera gustado para hacer fotos con temática brutalista, pero sí que había un montón concreto desnudo, líneas rectas, texturas y mucho minimalismo como para que yo me dedicase durante un par de horas a hacer fotos allí... ¡Y eso fue lo que hice entonces!...

I was fortunate that the bleachers and adjacent areas were lonely, as these are usually frequented by people who usually go up and down the stairs to exercise in the mornings. But apparently the cloudy weather of the morning discouraged them, or perhaps the hangover from Sunday's revelry avoided them to come to this place 😂... But the truth is that I had those old and colorless bleachers all to myself... So this thing I did could perhaps be called something like: “ Close Brutalism”... I think it's the first time I've done a job like this, but I enjoyed it a lot and I liked the result I got... I hope to find here in my town more spaces like this one to make experimental photography exercises like this in the future...

Tuve la fortuna de que el graderío y sus adyacencias estaban solitarios, pues generalmente son frecuentados por personas que suelen bajar y subir los peldaños para ejercitarse en las mañanas. Pero al parecer el clima nublado de la mañana les desanimó, o quizás las resaca producto de las juergas del Domingo evitaron que viniesen a este lugar 😂... Pero lo cierto es que tuve esas vetustas y poco coloridas tribunas totalmente para mi... Así que esto que hice quizás podría llamarse algo así como: "Brutalismo cercano"... Creo que es la primera vez que hago un trabajo como este, pero lo he disfrutado un montó y me gustó el resultado que obtuve... Espero encontrar aquí en mi pueblo más espacios como esta para hacer ejercicios de fotografía experimentales como este en un futuro...

I took the photos very close up and using a small 18-200mm zoom lens with apertures between f/6.1 and f/8. In fact, these photos are easy to take as far as lighting and angle of capture are concerned. Perhaps the most complex part of this experimental photographic essay, was the moment to process the photos, as I spent almost five hours in preparing this dozen images doing some cropping, rotating photos, discarding some of them despite having them almost ready, putting and removing layers of fade and all and things like that... I think I woke up a little crazier than normal on me today!!! 😂... And I just had a hard time feeling at ease with each photo while working on them. I guess this is because this is a type of work which I don't do often. But I plan to include things like this in my regular photo series, undoubtedly it's a great exercise in composition instinct and angle selection, as well as practice with processing variations...

Hice las fotos muy de cerca y usando un pequeño lente zoom 18-200mm con aperturas entre f/6.1 y f/8. En realidad son fotos fáciles de hacer en lo que respecta a iluminación y ángulo de captura. Quizás lo más complejo de este ensayo fotográfico experimental, fue el momento procesar las fotos, pues invertí casi cinco horas en preparar esta docena de imágenes haciendo algunos recortes, girando fotos, desechando algunas a pesar de tenerlas casi listas, poniendo y quitando capas de atenuación y todos y cosas por el estilo... ¡Creo que hoy desperté un poco más loco de lo normal en mi! 😂... Y es que me costó mucho sentirme a gusto con cada foto mientras trabajaba en ellas. Supongo que esto se debe a que este es un tipo de trabajo el cual no hago frecuentemente. Pero tengo pensado incluir cosas como esta en mis habituales series fotográficas, indudablemente son un gran ejercicio para el instinto al componer y al seleccionar ángulos, así como para practicar con variaciones de procesado...

And obviously that last picture is not a bleacher made of concrete! 😂... But undoubtedly, this rusty old light tower at the soccer stadium is something to be used as an epilogue in this photo series which I brought for you today on #Hive...

¡Y obviamente esa ultima foto no es una grada de concreto! 😂... Pero indudablemente, esta vieja y oxidada torre de alumbrado en el estadio de futbol es algo como para ser usado de epílogo en esta serie fotográfica la cual traje hoy para ustedes en #Hive...
