BLUE TOWN - (STREET PHOTOGRAPHY SERIES)

There are a few mornings a year when the town—Montalbán—seems "bluer" to me. And I don't mean it’s a matter of the weather, or the fog bringing in shades of that color, or some trick of the light refracting. No, what I mean is that it is a blue of my own—one I carry with me, one I conjure up in those scarred streets, and one that surely only I perceive and understand. Because, to be honest, I have never run into anyone on those blue mornings who stopped to say something like, "Good morning, Jesús; the morning seems a bit blue today..." No, the truth is that this "blue" only appears on those mornings when I feel old and perhaps weary. Mornings when memories—good and bad, happy and sad—weigh equally upon me, a burden that tires the body and urges me to stay in bed, or to close my eyes and think less, or to leave unanswered the "good mornings" that others around me—people who, for the record, bear no blame for my waking up with this "blue" clinging to my chest like a pain that makes breathing difficult—let slip from their kind lips on a morning that, to them, wears a different color...

And obviously, I need to clarify that the photos I’m sharing with you today, I treated them with blue tones; I created them as a form of catharsis to affirm that I do, in fact, see the blues. And also, obviously, it's necessary to clarify for anyone who reaches this part of these lines of text that, for years I've been dealing with some ailments that make me see blues from time to time... But, be that as it may, these mornings, as I already said, only happen a few times a year and no more...
