In these photos, it's just me walking along the narrow paved road that winds through the rural areas south of Montalbán. I make this journey several times a week, and just like the streets around me, this road always has something new to tell me each time I visit. This time, it's the fog, and the way I observe things, people, animals, and shapes that appear amidst the dense, whitish atmosphere that seems to be everywhere. So, I invite you to continue reading this post and join me on this journey of vertical, rural views...

En estas fotos soy yo simplemente yendo por la angosta carretera pavimentada que se adentra en los espacios rurales al Sur de Montalbán... Hago este recorrido varias veces por semana, y al igual que mis calles, este camino siempre tiene algo nuevo para mi cada vez que lo visito... Y esta vez es la niebla, y el hecho de ir mirando cosas, personas, animales y formas que aparecen en medio de la atmósfera densas y blanquecina la cual parece estar por todas partes. Así que los invito a continuar adelante en esta publicación y acompañarme en este recorrido de miradas verticales campestres...

And of course, besides looking around and taking photos, I'm thinking about titles. I'm also thinking that many of these photos are what I call "a delightful headache" in terms of processing and editing, because the fog complicates everything and the light is scarce; shapes become faint, some barely visible in the thicket. But it's absolutely worth every effort, and it's good not to overthink things when you press the shutter. It's better to grapple with these almost ethereal images when you're standing in front of them, looking at them on a screen, rather than now... Yes, it's better not to think and just let your instincts guide you and take the picture, then see what happens, because it almost always turns out to be something good...

Y por supuesto, además de ir mirando y haciendo fotos, voy pensando títulos, también voy pensando que muchas de estas fotos son eso que llamo "un delicioso dolor de cabeza" en cuanto a procesado y edición se refiere, pues la niebla complica todo y la luz es escasa, las formas se vuelven tenues, algunas apenas "se presumen" en la espesura. Pero absolutamente vale la pena todo esfuerzo, y es bueno no pensar demasiado cuando se dispara el obturador, pues es mejor lidiar con las imágenes casi etéreas cuando uno esté en frente de ellas mirándolas en una pantalla y no ahora... Sí, es mejor no pensar y dejarse llevar por el instinto y dispara la foto, para luego ver que sucede, pues casi siempre resulta algo bueno...

And the fog hides many things, especially the horizon that disappears, but in return it reveals others, and what once went unnoticed, now, with the fog, speaks volumes... It could be a tree, the wire fence, the ears of corn, a horse or a cow, but now they all have something to say when the white blanket reveals them and makes them the protagonists...

Y la niebla oculta muchas cosas, en especial horizonte que se pierde, pero a cambio revela otras, y lo que antes pasada inadvertido, ahora, con la niebla, es algo diciendo mil cosas... Puede ser un árbol, la alambrada, las espigas, un caballo o una vaca, pero ahora todos ellos tienen algo que decir cuando el manto blanco los revela y hace protagonistas...

They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7}
