Okay, these are photos I took on my way back to town after one of my long forays into the countryside around my town (Montalbán, Venezuela)... Yes, it's certainly lovely walking along those paths around 7:00 AM when the fog seems to blanket everything in white. But once the fog lifts and the temperature starts to climb rapidly, reaching over 30°C around 10:00 AM, I can feel like I'm being roasted alive on those usually deserted roads...

Bien, esta son fotografías hechas durante mi camino de retorno al pueblo después de una de mis largas incursiones en los espacios campestres alrededor de mi pueblo (Montalbán, Venezuela)... Sí, ciertamente es lindo avanzar por esos caminos alrededor de las 7:00 AM cuando la niebla parece cubrir con su manto blanco todo alrededor. Pero una vez que la niebla se evapora y la temperatura comienza a subir rápidamente hasta pasar los 30°C cerca de las 10:00 AM, entonces puedo tener la sensación de estar friéndome vivo en medio de caminos por lo general solitarios...

My plan is usually to head home just as the fog starts to lift and the sun warms things up, but those plans are often thwarted by the presence of a bunch of cows 🐄. You see, I love cows and I love taking pictures of them. And when there's plenty of light and warmth, it seems the cows like to get closer to the fences, or even jump over them and wander along the country lanes through these rural properties. So what could have been a quick trip back in just over an hour ends up taking more than twice as long, enduring the heat, humidity, and of course, the bites of those insects the farmers call "jejenes" which look to me like swarms of vampires ready to drain me dry every time I stop to take a picture 😆...

Generalmente, mis planes son regresar a casa justo en el momento en el que la niebla comienza a irse y el sol calienta el ambiente, pero esos planes se ven usualmente frustrados por la presencia de un montón de vacas 🐄. Y es que sucede qué, a mi me encantan las vacas y me gusta hacerles fotos. Y cuando hay un montón de luz y calor, parece que a las vacas les gusta acercarse más a las alambradas, o incluso saltarse estas y pasear por los caminos rurales a lo largo de estos predios rurales. Así es como lo que podría haber sido un rápido trayecto de retorno poco más de una hora, termina convirtiéndose en un más del doble de tiempo soportando calor, humedad y por supuesto las picaduras de esos insectos que los campesinos llaman "gnats" y a mi me parecen nubes de vampiros dispuestos a dejarme sin sangre cada vez que me detengo para hacer una fotografía 😆...

Obviously, I don't just find cows on my way back; there are also landscapes that were previously hidden by the fog, and some birds, mainly herons of various species very common in the pastures, and from time to time along the way I come across a family of farmers who seem to be immune to the heat and the bites of the not at all funny "gnats" whose swarms seem to chase the lens of my camera, to the point that it's possible to take some pictures of them 🤷‍♂...

Obviamente, no solo encuentro vacas de regreso; también hay paisajes que antes estaban ocultos por la niebla, algunas aves, principalmente garzas de diversas especies muy comunes en los potreros, y de vez en cuando en el camino me topo con alguna familia de campesinos quienes parecen ser inmunes al calor y a las picaduras de los nada graciosos "jejenes" cuyos enjambres parecen perseguir el lente de mi cámara, hasta el punto de ser factible de hacerles algunas foto 🤷‍♂...

And that's how I ended up arriving home on the verge of dehydration, covered in bites on my neck, arms, and face. But with a bunch of dynamic and, in some cases, quite spontaneous photos of what the rural landscape of my town looks like on days like these, when the heat, humidity, and sunlight reveal an eloquent but sometimes relentless nature...

Y es así como termino llegando a casa al borde de la deshidratación, lleno de picaduras en el cuello, brazos y rostro. Pero con un montón de fotos muy dinámicas y en algunos caso bastante espontáneas, de como es la visión del entorno rural de mi pueblo en días como estos, en los que el calor, la humedad y la luz solar revelan una naturaleza elocuente pero a vece implacable...

And yes, these landscapes are beautiful, I know... But this post started with a cow and it has to end with a cow!... And here's that "final cow" for you!... 😂🐮

Y sí, estos paisajes son lindos ya lo sé... ¡Pero esta publicación comenzó con una vaca y tiene que terminar con una vaca!... ¡Y aquí está esa "vaca finalizadora" para ustedes!... 😂🐮
