Ricaurte Avenue in Montalbán (Carabobo, Venezuela) is the back street to my house. It's the same street where, some 50 years ago, I used to spend hours in the afternoons playing marbles, riding my bike, flying kites, or simply getting into spectacular group fights with the other neighborhood kids 😂... It was the mid-1970s, and I still don't understand how we "survived" such a rough childhood, but I recognize that they were happy years despite the occasional broken tooth and frequent bruises all over our bodies... But even today, Ricaurte Avenue remains an integral part of my daily life, and that's why yesterday, in the middle of the afternoon, when we suffered one of the now-frequent power outages, I simply grabbed my camera and decided to wander around "my back street" to pass the time and see how some of my neighbors were doing. As expected, most of them were sitting on the sidewalks trying to escape the sweltering heat and the tedium caused by the lack of electricity... And these are those photos from yesterday, and they're here for you today as usual here at #Hive...

La Avenida Ricaurte de Montalbán (Carabobo, Venezuela) es la calle que pasa por detrás de mi casa, es la misma calle en la cual yo, unos 50 años atrás, pasaba horas en las tarde jugando canicas, andando en bicicleta, volando cometas o simplemente inmerso en espectaculares golpizas colectivas junto con los otros chicos del vecindario 😂... Eran mediados de los años 70 del siglo pasado, y aún no entiendo como es que "sobrevivíamos" a una niñez tan ruda pero reconozco que eran años felices a pesar de algún ocasional diente roto y los frecuentes hematomas por todo el cuerpo... Pero hoy por hoy, la Avenida Ricaurte sigue siendo parte integral de mi cotidianidad, y es debido a eso que ayer a mitad de tarde, cuando sufrimos uno de los ya recurrentes cortes de energía eléctrica, simplemente tomé mi cámara y decidí salir a deambular por esa "mi calle de atrás" para pasar el tiempo y ver que tal estaban algunos de mis vecinos quienes, como era de esperarse, estaban en su mayoría sentados en los bordes de la calle procurando escapar del calor sofocante y del tedio provocado por la falta de electricidad... Y estas son esas fotos de ayer, y están hoy para ti como de costumbre aquí en #Hive...
