Today, I was finally able to leave home early to wander through my streets and take photographs. Today, I sent all my commitments to hell, the same ones that had been keeping me from going out to do street photography for almost a week.... I didn't check the messages on my phone upon waking up; I didn't spend time organizing orders; I didn't want to spend time filling the reservoir with the little drinking water that comes through the pipes; I didn't make coffee; I didn't design an itinerary to collect outstanding invoices; I didn't do any of that... I simply woke up, washed my face, fed my dogs and cats, petted them for a while, took my camera, and went out into the streets to roam them for the first time in this month of August, which has been a complex tangle of commitments and unexpected events until now... And, let me tell you, the feeling of doing this was frankly "liberating"...

Hoy finalmente fui capaz de salir temprano de casa a deambular por mis calles y hacer fotografías. Hoy mandé todos mis compromisos al diablo, los mismos que habían estado evitando que fuese a hacer fotos callejeras durante casi una semana. No revisé los mensajes en mi teléfono al despertar, no me dediqué a organizar pedidos, no quise invertir tiempo llenando el reservorio con la poca agua potable que llega por las tuberías, no preparé café, no diseñé un itinerario para hacer los cobros de facturas pendientes, no hice nada de eso... Simplemente desperté, me lavé el rostro, di de comer a mis perros y gatos, los acaricié un rato, tomé mi cámara y salí a las calles a recorrerlas por primera vez en este mes de agosto, el cual ha sido una madeja compleja de compromisos y eventos inesperados hasta ahora... Y, permítanme decirles, la sensación de hacer esto fue francamente "liberadora"...

I confess that, after several days without going out to take photos, I felt a bit self-conscious. It is as if the "habit" were lost a bit and in a surprising way. But after a few blocks observing and understanding the light, what I call "As I see it" came back to me in its fullness and I began to look at what others do not see, and the streets and their things unfolded before me like an enchanting atlas of things happening. And for me, feeling all this is good; it is something that connects me with myself and makes me feel good...

Confieso que, después de varios días sin salir a hacer fotos, me sentí un poco cohibido. Es como si el "hábito" se perdiese un poco y de forma sorpresiva. Pero, después de unas cuantas cuadras observando y entendiendo la luz, eso que llamo "Cómo veo esto" volvió a mí en su plenitud y comencé a mirar lo que otros no ven, y las calles y sus cosas se desplegaron ante mí como un atlas encantador de cosas ocurriendo. Y, para mí, sentir todo esto es bueno: es algo que me conecta conmigo mismo y me hace sentir bien...

They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7}
