It is not surprising that I carry a 100mm macro lens with me when I go out on the streets to take pictures, just as it is not strange that I go from wanting to capture an open street scene to unexpectedly point to some specific detail seen on the street and whose chromatic and/or structural characteristics generate immediate interest for me. And that's how each of these photographs which I brought today to share with you in #Hive, are born and occur...

No es algo extraño que lleve conmigo una lente para macros de 100mm cuando salgo a las calles a hacer fotografías, tampoco es extraño que yo vaya de querer capturar una escena callejera abierta a inesperadamente apuntar hacia algún detalle puntual visto en la calle y cuyas características cromáticas y/o estructurales me generen interés inmediato. Y es así como nacen y ocurren cada una de estas fotografías las cuales traje hoy para compartir con ustedes en #Hive...

Obviously, when the object and I make eye contact in this kind of photos, a dialogue immediately takes place... What I observe shows its colors, its lines, its drama and its presence, and at the same time I construct the image in my head, I compose it, I scrutinize it, I think of it already altered and converted into a humble but concise and eloquent message about how I understood what I saw at that moment. All this can happen like a flash of lightning in my mind and that is when, almost always, the title of the image jumps out at me and sticks until it becomes a fact once it has been processed and edited...

Obviamente, cuando el objeto y yo hacemos contacto visual en este tipo de fotos, de inmediato sucede un dialogo... Lo que yo observo muestras sus colores, sus líneas, su drama y su presencia, y al mismo tiempo yo construyo la imagen en mi cabeza, la compongo, la escruto, la pienso ya alterada y convertida en un mensaje humilde pero conciso y elocuente respecto a como yo entendí lo que vi en ese momento. Todo eso puede suceder como un relámpago en mi mente y es ahí cuando, casi siempre, el título de la imagen salta sobre mi y se queda pegado hasta convertirla en un hecho una vez procesada y editada...

My work is meager in terms of technique, I know... But his proposal, from my point of view, is descriptive of myself, of my environment, of how I and my surroundings interact on a strange plane, sometimes abstract, other times carefree, critical, irreverent... I don't know exactly how to describe it with words, and that is perhaps one of the reasons why I try to do it with photos. But the truth is that what I can call “creative catharsis”, for me has a lot of relief, of introspection and protest at the same time...

Mi trabajo es magro en cuanto a técnica, lo sé... Pero su propuesta, desde mi punto de vista, es descriptiva de mi mismo, de mi entorno, de como yo y mis alrededores interactuamos en un plano extraño, a veces abstracto, otras veces desenfadado, crítico, irreverente... No sé exactamente como describirlo con palabras, y esa es quizás una de las razones por las cuales procuro hacerlo con fotos. Pero lo cierto es que esto que puedo llamar "catarsis creativa", para mi tiene mucho de desahogo, de introspección y de protesta a un mismo tiempo...

These types of photos evolve sequentially from the moment I capture them, to the moment I take them to my PC and spend some time processing them from RAW format and convert them into what I know each photo is for me... Years ago I took few of these photos and when I did, I usually had to do a lot of cropping and straightening when editing. But now these photos are composed by me in the same camera instinctively, so that gives me an even greater feeling of painting on a defined canvas from the very first moment...

Este tipo de fotos evolucionan de manera secuencial desde el momento en las que las capturo, hasta el momento en las que las llevo a mi PC y dedico algo de tiempo a procesarlas desde el formato RAW y convertirlas en aquello que sé que para mi es cada foto... Años atrás hacia pocas fotos de este tipo y cuando las hacía, generalmente tenía que terminar recortando y enderezando mucho al momento de editar. Pero ahora estas fotos son compuestas por mi en la misma cámara de manera instintiva, así que eso me genera una aún mayor sensación de estar pintando sobre un lienzo definido desde el primer momento...
