I think I enjoy photographing landscapes in January so much for the simple reason that this month offers a magnificent palette of colors in the valley. From the yellows and ochres brought on by the start of the dry season, to the blues of the skies, the white of the clouds, and even some trees that remain green either due to their proximity to water or the characteristics of their species; everything in this month seems hand-painted with bright and eloquent oils. That's why you can easily take advantage of every mountain, every bare tree, every ray of light at sunset, and every path that crosses the valley to compose photographs to your heart's content...

Creo que me gusta tanto fotografiar paisajes en Enero, por la sencilla razón de que en este mes tenemos una magnífica paleta de colores en el valle. Desde los amarillos y ocres traídos por el comienzo de la temporada de sequía, pasando por los azules de los cielos, el blanco de las nubes, y hasta algunos árboles que permanecen verdes ya sea por su cercanía al agua o por características propias de su especie; todo en este mes parece pintado a mano con oleos brillantes y elocuentes. Es por eso que en entero se puede aprovechar fácilmente cada montaña, cada árbol desnudo, cada luz del atardecer y cada camino que atraviesa el valle, para componer fotografías a placer...

I took these photos yesterday afternoon. Around 4:00 PM, I had some free time and decided to grab my camera and take a walk north of town, where the valley stretches out to the foothills of some mountains, which from a distance look romantically blue. As the sun dipped lower, the colors became warmer and the light more even, the shadows lengthened, and a gentle breeze blew from the east. All of this made me feel so good that I even ventured onto some trails I hadn't hiked before. That's how I ended up with a bunch of photos that all capture "what January is like here." These are just a few of them; I'll be sharing more with you later...

Hice estas fotos durante la tarde de ayer. Ya cerca de las 4:00 PM me encontraba desocupado y decidí tomar mi cámara y hacer una caminata al Norte del pueblo, hacia donde el valle se extiende hasta tocar el pie de algunas montañas, las cuales desde la distancia parecen románticamente azuladas. Al bajar un poco más el sol, los colores se hicieron más cálidos y las luces más parejas, las sombras se alargaron y una suave brisa sopló desde el Este. Todo esto me hice sentir tan bien, que incluso me atreví a explorar algunos senderos en los cuales no había caminado antes. Así fue como terminé con un montón de fotos que hablan todas de "como es Enero aquí". Estas son solo algunas de estas fotos, luego estaré compartiendo otras más con ustedes...
