Wandering along the roads of “La Monterosa” on a foggy morning is one of my favorites “photographic therapies”... This is a place in the north of Montalban valley, where there is one main road and a lot of secondary roads which depart from this last one in all directions. So this is a place where you can wander in a pleasant and random way, between lands dedicated to agriculture and cattle breeding, immersing yourself in a deeply bucolic atmosphere just by moving a handful of meters away from the streets of the village...

Salir a deambular por los caminos de "La Monterosa" durante una mañana con mucha nieble, es una de mis "terapias fotográficas" favoritas... Este es un lugar al norte de valle de Montalbán, en donde hay un camino principal y un montón de caminos secundarios los cuales parten de este último en todas direcciones. Entonces este es un lugar en el cual se puede deambular de manera agradable y con rumbo aleatorio, entre terrenos dedicados a la agricultura y a la cría de ganado, sumergiéndose uno en un ambiente profundamente bucólico tan solo con alejarse un puñado de metros de las calles del pueblo...

The main road (📷 01) itself provides the opportunity to take lovely pictures as it is full of elements where human, rural and natural elements converge in a fantastic way. But also on both sides there are a lot of interesting scenes happening all the time, like those cows that look curious as I pass by and take pictures of them (📷 02) or the ruins of the little old estancia pass control office (📷 03) remnants of the times when these lands belonged to a single big property called "Hacienda Montero"... There are iconic places like "La Curva de la Ceiba" (📷 04) where there is this huge and centennial tree belong the Ceiba pentandra species whose shade is useful in the hot days to take a good rest in the middle of the walk... But you can also simply "observe the silence" of the pastures on the sides of the road (📷 04) when they are still without cattle grazing... Certainly an ideal place to go to take pictures...

EL camino principal (📷 01) en sí provee la oportunidad de hacer fotos encantadoras pues este se encuentra repleto de elementos en donde convergen elementos humanos, rurales y naturales de manera fantástica. Pero también a lado y lado hay un montón de escenas interesantes ocurriendo siempre, como esas vacas que miran curiosas mientras paso y les hago fotos (📷 02) o las ruinas de la pequeña oficina de control de paso de vieja estancia (📷 03) remanentes de los tiempos en los que estos terrenos pertenecían a una sola gran propiedad llamada "Hacienda Montero"... Hay lugares icónicos como "La Curva de la Ceiba" (📷 04) en donde esté ese enorme y centenario árbol de la especie Ceiba pentandra cuya sombra sirve en los días calurosos para tomarse un buen descanso en medio de la caminata... Pero también puede uno simplemente "observar el silencio" de los pastizales a los lados del camino (📷 04) cuando aún están sin ganado pastando... Un lugar ciertamente ideal para ir a hacer fotos...

I love taking pictures of the road certainly (📷 06) but when it gets better is when the sun begins to evaporate the layer of fog that covers the valley (📷 08) and generates that kind of “golden light with faint haze” effect which serves to make some visually delightful postcards like that of a cow grazing carelessly in a paddock partially lit by the sun (📷 07)... Suddenly, a man passing by on his bicycle (📷 09) greets me and I respond with something of a shock, as it has brought me out of my self-absorption, but at the same time it has served to make me move on and find a beautiful scene...

Amo hacer fotografías del camino ciertamente (📷 06) pero cuando esto se pone mejor es cuando el sol comienza a evaporar la capa de niebla que cubre el valle (📷 08) y se genera esa especie de efecto de "luz dorada con con bruma tenue" el cual sirve para hacer algunas postales visualmente deliciosas como esa de una vaca pastando descuidadamente en un potrero parcialmente iluminado por el sol (📷 07)... De repente, un hombre que pasa de largo sobre su bicicleta (📷 09) me saluda y yo respondo con algo de sobresalto, pues me ha sacado de mi ensimismamiento, pero al mismo tiempo me ha servido para hacerme seguir adelante y encontrar una hermosa escena...

The photos (📷 10 and 11) correspond to what I called my "Kodak Moment" of the day... Suddenly the fog got a bit thicker, I heard dogs barking along a side road and when I turned my face to look: There was this fantastic scene which occurred in my mind as a slow sequence full of images which I loved immediately!... At that moment I could only think: "Gosh, I'm really lucky to be able to do this almost every day" 😀...

Las fotos (📷 10 y 11) corresponden a el que llamé mi "Momento Kodak" del día... De repente la niebla se hizo un poco más densa, escuché perros ladrar a lo largo de un camino secundario y cuando giré el rostro para mirar: ¡Allí estaba esa fantástica escena la cual ocurrió en mi mente como una secuencia lenta repleta de imágenes las cuales amé de inmediato!... En ese momento no pude más que pensar: "Cielos, deveras tengo suerte de poder hacer esto casi a diario" 😀

After taking those photos of the boy, the dogs and the partridges, I was frankly overwhelmed and I stopped for long minutes to observe the landscape while the sun started to rise in the horizon (📷 12) and continued to slowly dissolve the fog... I took more photos that day, already with the atmosphere cleared and the landscape fully illuminated, but I'll be sharing those additional photos in an upcoming post, so: stay tuned! 😉

Después de hacer esas fotos del chico, los perros y las perdices, quedé francamente conmovido y me detuve largos minutos a observar el paisaje mientras el sol comenzaba a ascender en el horizonte (📷 12) y continuaba diluyendo la niebla lentamente... Ese día hice más fotos, ya con la atmósfera despejada y el paisaje totalmente iluminado, pero estaré compartiendo esas fotos adicionales en un post próximo, así que: ¡manteneos atentos! 😉

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7

NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape v3.7
