Hello #Hive visual friends!... Today I brought to share with you a photo essay based on dried leafs close-ups. The leafs in question belongs to the "Yagrumo" tree (Cecropia peltata) and has the characteristic of wilting very slowly after detaching from the tree's branches and also remaining for days with a lovely "papery" texture as it withers. In addition, the leaves are full of dark veins and twist in a marvellous way. All this is a wonderful set of factors to take one of these leaves and spend a lot of time looking at it, turning it, trying to illuminate it from different angles and of course... Taking a lot of pictures and then sitting in front of my PC and doing something like this!... ;)

¡Hola amigos visuales de #Hive!... Hoy traje para compartir con ustedes un ensayo fotográfico basado en close-ups hechos a una hoja seca. La hoja en cuestión pertenece al árbol de "Yagrumo" (Cecropia peltata) y tiene por característica marchitarse muy lentamente después de desprenderse de las ramas del árbol y también permanecer durante días con una encantadora textura "como papel" mientras se marchita. Además, son hojas llenas de nervaduras obscuras y se retuercen de manera maravillosa... ¡Todo esto es un conjunto de factores maravillosos para tomar una de esas hojas e invertir mucho tiempo observándola, girándola, procurando iluminarlas desde distintos ángulos y por supuesto... ¡Hacerle un montón de fotos para luego sentarme en frente de mi PC y hacer algo como esto!... ;)

My initial intention was to edit these photos from the RAW files for monochrome versions, but after spending about 60 minutes working on the first three photos, I decided that these are also ideal for colour processing, as the tonalities of the leaf and out-of-focus backgrounds are conducives to having quite elegant colour photos in my opinion. So I decided to spend a lot more time creating monochrome and colour versions for each of the five photos I selected. Cropping the monochrome photos to 1:1 format is purely an aesthetic decision useful to differentiate the two versions of the image and experiment with them at will. It should be said that monochrome versions have a 1% yellow attenuation layer over the pure black and white image, which is the reason for the "vintage" tone (it seems to me) that is noticeable in them.

Mi intención inicial era editar estas fotos desde los archivos RAW para versiones monocromáticas, pero después de estar cerca de 60 minutos trabajando en las tres primeras fotos, decidí que eran también ideales para procesar en colores, ya que las tonalidades de la hoja y de los fondos desenfocados, eran propicias para tener fotos a colores bastante elegantes según mi juicio. Así que decidí invertir bastante más tiempo creando versiones monocromáticas y de colores para cada unas de las cinco fotos que seleccioné. El hecho de recortar las fotos monocromáticas en formato 1:1 es puramente una decisión estética útil para diferenciar las dos versiones de la imagen y experimentar con ellas a placer. Cabe decir que, las versiones monocromáticas tienen una capa de atenuación con 1% de amarillo sobre la imagen en blanco y negro puro, a eso se debe el tono "vintage" (a mi parece) que es apreciable en ellas.

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.

NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografías capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
