Hello everyone here in this “Daily Blog” community, my name is Jesús Linares and I live in a small town in Venezuela called “Montalbán”... This is my first post in this community, but I've been watching, appreciating and enjoying the excellent content shared here for a long time. And that's how I've ended up understanding that this corner of #Hive is perhaps an excellent place to share a good part of my daily experiences 🤓... Some of you may already know me and therefore know that my hobby is taking pictures. But besides capturing moments I also like to write a lot about the anecdotes, experiences and little stories which I come across almost daily in what I like to call my “photo walks”... My town is a place where the urban and the rural converge in a wonderful way and this makes the people, the places, the animals and everything here have the typical eloquence of the small towns, those where all the villagers know each other and in many opportunities have grown up together... So this is my first publication for this community and I hope you enjoy it to the fullest. In the same way, I am open to comments and recommendations so that my content complies in the best possible way with the guidelines of “Daily Blog”...

Hola a todos aquí en esta comunidad "Daily Blog", mi nombre es Jesús Linares y vivo en un pequeño pueblo de Venezuela llamado "Montalbán"... Esta es mi primera publicación en esta comunidad, pero llevo mucho tiempo mirando, apreciando y disfrutando el contenido excelente que se comparte aquí. Y así es como he terminado por entender que este rincón de #Hive es quizás un excelente lugar para compartir buena parte de mi experiencias cotidianas 🤓... Algunos de ustedes puede que ya me conozcan y sabrán por ende que mi afición es hacer fotografías. Pero además de capturar momentos me gusta también escribir mucho acerca de las anécdotas, vivencias y pequeñas historias con las cuales me encuentro casi a diario en eso que me gusta llamar mis "caminatas fotográficas"... Mi pueblo es un lugar en donde lo urbano y lo rural convergen de manera maravillosa y esto hace que las personas, los lugares, los animales y todo aquí tenga la elocuencia típica de los pueblos pequeños, esos en donde todos los pobladores se conocen y en muchas oportunidades han crecido juntos... Así que esta es mi primera publicación para esta comunidad y espero la disfruten a plenitud. De igual manera me mantengo atento a los comentarios y recomendaciones en aras de que mi contenido cumpla de la mejor manera posible con los lineamientos de "Daily Blog"...

The last four days here were literally “constant and relentless rain”, so when earlier today I saw the weather forecast saying we would have a partly clear morning until about 10:00 AM, I quickly drank my cup of hot coffee and took my camera to rush out to the hills which rise to the west of town. It was about 6:30 AM when I left my house, but just 20 minutes later I was already surrounded by grasslands and enjoying the scenery all around while breathing in plenty of fresh air (📷 01, 02 and 03)...

Los últimos cuatro días aquí fueron literalmente de "lluvia constante e implacable", así que cuando hoy temprano vi la predicción del clima diciendo que tendríamos una mañana parcialmente despejada hasta aproximadamente las 10:00 AM, bebí rápidamente mi taza de café cliente y tomé mi cámara para salir a toda prisa hacia las colinas que se alzan al oeste del pueblo. Eran aproximadamente las 6:30 AM cuando salí de mi casa, pero apenas 20 minutos después ya estaba rodeado de pastizales y disfrutando del paisaje alrededor mientras respiraba un montón de aire fresco (📷 01, 02 y 03)...

Some birds apparently were also determined to take advantage of the hours of a finally rainless morning, so I soon discovered a nice grayish hawk (📷 04) perching thoughtfully on top of a dry tree and also a “Guacharaca” (📷 05) watching me as it seemed to bask in the weak sunlight of the overcast sunrise... Soon after, while I was watching and photographing those birds, my friend Emeterio (📷 06 and 07) appeared heading to his land in the mountains, where he farms and has a small house for shelter.

Algunas aves al parecer también estaban decididas a aprovechar las horas de una mañana finalmente sin lluvias, así que pronto descubrí un lindo halcón grisáceo (📷 04) posando pensativo en lo alto de un árbol seco y también una "Guacharaca" (📷 05) observándome mientras parecía deleitarse con la débil luz solar del amanecer encapotado... Poco después, mientras observaba y fotografiaba esas aves, apareció mi amigo Emeterio (📷 06 y 07) yendo rumbo a sus tierras en las montañas, en las cuales siembra y tiene una pequeña casa para refugiarse.

The anticipated arrival of the rains has meant that where there were trees with bare branches, we now have the intense and life-giving green tones of renewed foliage. The landscape in full reflects how the weather has been in recent weeks and the ocher and yellow tones have disappeared from the horizon, changing even the previously blue skies by complex cloud formations of different shades. In my particular opinion, the landscape in these days becomes a bit monotonous and with less visual impact, so I take less wide angle photos than when we are in dry season (📷 08, 09, 10)...

La anticipada llegada de las lluvias ha hecho que en donde habían árboles con ramas desnudas, ahora tengamos los intensos y vivificantes tonos verdes del follaje renovado. El paisaje en pleno refleja como ha sido el clima en estas últimas semanas y los tonos ocres y amarillos han desaparecido del horizonte, cambiando incluso los cielos antes azules por complejas formaciones de nubes de diferentes tonos. En mi opinión particular, el paisaje en estos días se torna un poco monótono y con menor impacto visual, así que hago menos fotos de plano abierto que cuando estamos en estación seca (📷 08,09,10)...

These hills are what I also call “one of my backyards” and I can reach them by walking a little more than half an hour from my house. Besides, the main road which climbs up into the mountains, leads to many more distant and interesting places where there are small peasant settlements and also touristic places, some of which I have already shown you in posts here on #Hive... But usually, when I walk few kilometers like today, I can meet people very often like my friend Rafael (📷 11) who is on his way to his cabin in the mountains accompanied by his faithful dog “Brownie” or like my other friend Ivan (📷 12) whose slogan is “Age is just a number” and runs daily up this road as a training for marathon running, which is what Ivan loves to do most... So, for me, these spaces are a real source of daily experiences and that's something I love about being here...

Estas colinas son lo que llamo también "uno de mis patios traseros" y puedo llegar a ellas caminado poco más de media hora desde mi casa. Además, el camino principal el cual asciende a las montañas, lleva a muchos lugares más lejanos e interesantes en donde hay pequeños asentamientos campesinos y también lugares turísticos, algunos de los cuales ya les he mostrado en publicaciones aquí en #Hive... Pero generalmente, cuando camino pocos kilómetros como hoy, puedo encontrar personas con mucha frecuencia como mi amigo Rafael (📷 11) quien va rumbo a su cabaña en las montañas acompañado de su fiel perro "Brownie" ó como mi otro amigo Iván (📷 12) cuyo lema es "La edad es solo un número" y sube corriendo diariamente este camino a manera de entrenamiento para correr maratones, que es lo que Iván más ama hacer... Entonces, para mi, estos espacios son una verdadera fuente de vivencias diarias y eso es algo que amo de estar aquí...

For the purposes of the people here, I am simply: “The crazy guy with the camera in hand” 😂, so when I spotted a beautiful hunting dog puppy (📷 13) I dedicated myself to photographing it while its owner named Manuel (📷 14) gave me a long explanation of the breeds of the puppy's parents and the “record” of effective hunts they had carried out. Hunting small and medium-sized prey (from partridge to deer) here is still something common for many families who have been raising these dogs for generations. I have been a vegetarian for almost three decades now, so when people here talk to me about what their hunting dogs do, I just nod and avoid saying anything that might seem too radical to them and want to give me an “exorcism” or something of the sort 😂... While Manuel continued talking about his dog breeding, I was taking pictures of him and his little son Eduardo (📷 15) who was sitting on his big brother's lap behind a wire fence...I love to take those kind of spontaneous and unplanned pictures!...

Para efectos de las personas aquí yo soy simplemente: "El tío loco con la cámara en la mano" 😂, así que cuando observé un hermoso cachorro de perro cazador (📷 13) me dediqué a fotografiarlo mientras su dueño llamado Manuel (📷 14) me daba una larga explicación de las razas de los padres del cachorro y el "registro" de cacerías efectivas que estos habían llevado a cabo. La caza de pequeñas y medianas presas (desde perdices hasta venados) aquí sigue siendo algo común para muchas familias quienes crían estos perros desde hace generaciones. Yo soy vegetariano desde hace casi tres décadas, así que cuando las personas aquí me hablan de lo que hacen sus perros cazadores, simplemente me limito a asentir con la cabeza y evito decir alguna cosa que quizás a ellos pueda parecerles demasiado radical y luego quieran hacerme un "exorcismo" o algo similar 😂... Mientras Manuel continuaba hablando de su cría de perros, yo les hacía fotos a él y a su pequeño hijo Eduardo (📷 15) el cual estaba sentado en el regazo de su hermano mayor detrás de una alambrada...¡Amo hacer ese tipo de fotos espontaneas y sin planificar!...

The sky started to gradually become more overcast around 9:30 AM, so I decided to go down to the village. But on the way back I took some other landscape photos where you can appreciate the effect of the rains on the valley and mountains (📷 16 and 17).

El cielo comenzó a encapotarse más gradualmente cerca de las 9:30 AM, así que decidí descender al pueblo. Pero de regreso hice algunas otras fotos de paisajes en donde se puede apreciar el efecto de las lluvias en el valle y las montañas (📷 16 y 17).

Almost when we reached the valley, on a small hill a boy was swearing loudly 😐 because he could not find dry firewood for cooking (📷 18) and shortly after I met my friend Cristóbal (📷 19) who was carrying dry wood for the stove in his house. Then I jokingly told Cristóbal: “A few meters ahead there is a boy furious because there is no dry firewood, be careful lest he steals the one you are carrying” to which Cristóbal jokingly replied: “Thanks for warning me, I will break these logs on his head if he comes near me then, so it will be easier to carry” 😂...

Ya casi al llegar al valle, en una pequeña colina un muchacho decía palabrotas 😐 en voz alta debido a que no encontraba leña seca para cocinar (📷 18) y poco después encontré a mi amigo Cristóbal (📷 19) quien sí llevaba madera seca para la estufa de su casa. Entonces le dije a Cristóbal a manera de broma: "Pocos metros más adelante hay un chico furioso porque no halla leña seca, ten cuidado no sea que te robe la que llevas" a lo que Cristóbal respondió también en broma: "Gracias por advertirme, romperé estos maderos en su cabeza si se me acerca entonces, así serán más fáciles de cargar" 😂...

I took some photos at the small river (📷 20, 21, 22) which separates the urban edge of town from the pastures and hills. This river still has its flow quite depleted despite the constant rains. I suppose this is because part of the water that feeds it is being directed to the town's aqueduct, whose operability, fortunately, has been recovered this year thanks to maintenance work recently carried out. But I hope that with the passing of the days the flow will increase due to the overtopping of the dam that is a few kilometers upstream (you can know it by clicking on this LINK)...

Hice algunas fotos en el pequeño río (📷 20, 21, 22) el cual separa el borde urbano del pueblo de los pastizales y las colinas. Este río aún tiene su caudal bastante mermado a pesar de las constantes lluvias. Supongo que esto se debe a que parte del agua que lo alimenta está siendo dirigida al acueducto del pueblo, cuya operatividad, afortunadamente, ha sido recuperada este año gracias a trabajos de mantenimiento recientemente realizados. Pero espero que con el paso de los días el caudal aumente debido al copamiento de la presa que está algunos kilómetros arriba (pueden conocerla haciendo click en este ENLACE)...

Did you see it? I don't go out every day just to take pictures.... What I have here is an inexhaustible planisphere of visions and charming anecdotes to share almost every day. It is because of this that I find that “Daily Blog” is an excellent place to let you know my daily experiences while I take pictures. Besides (and surely you have already noticed) I am also what could be called “a compulsive writer” 😃....

¿Lo vieron?... No salgo a diario únicamente para hacer fotos... Lo que tengo aquí es un planisferio inagotable de visiones y anécdotas encantadoras para compartir prácticamente a diario. Es debido a esto que me parece que "Daily Blog" es un lugar excelente para hacerles llegar mis vivencias cotidianas mientras hago fotografías. Además (y seguramente ya lo han notado) soy también lo que podría llamarse "un escribidor compulsivo" 😃...
