Hello #Hive friends!.... From time to time I need to take pictures beyond the streets and then I start to look for other things to photograph.... Usually landscapes, animals, vehicles and the like come to mind.... But today, as I was walking through the garden, trying to get an idea of something to photograph, I noticed the lovely variety of succulent plants that my wife and my mother have grown... There was something good to photograph, geez!... 📷

¡Hola amigos de #Hive!... De vez en cuando necesito hacer fotografías más allá de las calles y entonces comienzo a buscar otras cosas para fotografiar... Por lo general se me vienen a la mente paisajes, animales, vehículos y cosas por el estilo... Pero hoy, mientras me encontraba caminando por el jardín, procurando tener una idea de algo para fotografiar, me percaté de la encantadora variedad de plantas suculentas que tienen mi esposa y mi madre cultivadas... ¡Allí estaba algo bueno para fotografiar caray!... 📷

Obviously, my hobby is photography, and I don't really know much about succulent plants, but I find them fascinating, of that I have no doubt.

Obviamente, mi hobby es la fotografía, y en realidad no sé mucho acerca de plantas suculentas, pero las encuentro fascinantes, de eso no tengo dudas.

So the character of this publication is perhaps rather photographic... But being about succulents, I thought it would be an excellent thing to share in this community whose speciality is these beautiful plants!...

Entonces el carácter de esta publicación es quizás bastante fotográfico... ¡Pero tratándose de plantas suculentas, me pareció que sería algo excelente para compartir en esta comunidad cuya especialidad son estas lindas plantas!...

When my wife observed me taking photos of these plants today (I took them this morning), she started to tell me several things about them... She told me that they seem to do much better in the dry season (we are in the middle of the dry season here) and that they simply need to be placed in places where they don't get constant sunlight and watered every 48 hours a little, preventing water from accumulating in their pots.

Cuando mi esposa me observó haciendo fotos de estas plantas hoy (las hice en la mañana de hoy), comenzó a decirme varias cosas respecto a ellas... Me comentó que parecen estar mucho mejor en la época de sequía (estamos en plena temporada seca aquí) y que simplemente había que colocarlas en lugares en donde no les diese luz solar constantemente y regarles cada 48 horas un poco, evitando que el agua se acumule en sus macetas.

The morning sky was quite cloudy, so the light was flat and delightful for taking pictures... Especially when it comes to photos in the corners of the gardens, where the light is complex... It seems to me that this favoured my perception of the charm of the shapes and colours of these nice little plants.

EL cielo de la mañana estaba bastante nuboso, así que la luz era plana y deliciosa para hacer fotos... En especial sí se trata de fotos en los rincones de los jardines, en donde la luminosidad es compleja... Me parece que esto favoreció mi percepción del encanto de las formas y colores de estas simpáticas plantitas.

My wife continued to "enlighten" me while I continued to take pictures.... (She seems to have a passion for these plants)... She says that the soil she uses comes from a mixture of composted topsoil (she makes the compost in our own backyard) and adds some sand until a fairly permeable mixture is achieved, as these plants die when moisture accumulates or remains too much in their roots... He also told me that almost all of them are easy to multiply using their leaves or even pieces of their stems.

Mi esposa continuó "ilustrándome" mientras yo seguía tomando fotos... (Tal parece que le apasionan estas plantas)... Ella dice que la tierra que usa proviene de una mezcla de tierra vegetal abonada (elabora el compost en nuestro propio patio) y agrega algo de arena hasta lograr una mezcla bastante permeable, pues estas plantas mueren cuando la humedad se acumula o permanece demasiado en sus raíces... También me dijo que casi todas son fáciles de multiplicar usando sus hojas o incluso trozos de sus tallos.

My wife also makes her own handmade pots with clay and cement, so it is easy for her to have containers for these plants.... She usually sells the pots she makes and sometimes she can sell them with plants... Although she prefer to do it without plants, because she says that the little plants have too much sentimental value for her when they grow up!... I love that!... 😍

También mi esposa fabrica artesanalmente sus propias macetas con arcilla y cemento, entonces es fácil para ella disponer de recipientes para estas plantas... Ella suele vender las macetas que hace y algunas veces las puede vender con plantas... ¡Aunque prefiere hacerlo sin plantas, pues dice que las plantitas cuando crecen tienen demasiado valor sentimental para ella!... ¡Eso me encanta!... 😍

My wife learned from her mother how to grow succulents and later she also learned some tricks from my mother... These pictures correspond only to part of the plants that are planted in my wife's and my mother's gardens (both houses are next to each other and it's practically like "living in a neighbourhood").

Mi esposa aprendió con su madre a cultivar suculentas y después también aprendió algunos trucos de mi madre... Estas fotografías corresponden solo a parte de las plantas que tienen sembradas en los jardines de mi esposa y mi madre (ambas casas están una al lado de la otra y prácticamente es como "vivir en una vecindad")

The diversity is overwhelming, I don't think I realised how many different species both my mother and my wife have here.... So I will need to make more posts with more photos of these plants.... And I'm very happy about this, as it's a pleasure to take pictures of succulents!.... Their shapes, colours and textures are fantastic, so they are very "photogenic" plants...

La diversidad es abrumadora, creo que no me había percatado de cuan variadas especies tanto mi madre como mi esposa tienen aquí... Así que necesitaré hacer más publicaciones con más fotos de estas plantas... ¡Y yo muy feliz por esto, pues es un placer hacer fotos de suculentas!... Sus formas, colores y texturas son fantásticas, así que son plantas muy "fotogénicas"...
