Traditional Market In Our City

(Edited)

Habra Hat is a traditional place of our Parbatipur Upazila. Habra Hat has located about 7.5 km from our house. A lot of tradition and history is associated with this region near the main town of Parbatipur and there is a traditional market which is called Habra Hat.

Earlier this area was dominated by prominent landlords. However, I have not found any recorded history about this area. As much information as I got, it was heard from people. Still, the Zamindar Bari and Habra Jagannath Temple located in Habra show how ancient the place is. These two structures are symbols of history and tradition here. Another interesting thing about Habra is that the traditional facilities are located side by side. All the traditional establishments like Habra Hat or Market, Habra Mosque, Zamindarbari, Temple, Habra High School, and Habra Girls School are located very close.

Many daily necessities are available in Habra hat and the prices are also very cheap. The Jalebi(sweets) here are famous in the area, the jalebis are fresh and very tasty to eat. The taste of tea at Habra Hut is incomparable. Tea and Jilapi are also one of the traditions of Habra Hat. Sometimes we go to Habra hat with friends just to eat the delicious Jalebi here and chat for a while with a kiss of tea. Fresh vegetables and fish are available here at very low prices on market days. There are some small clothes shops in the market. If you want to buy any iron tool then hopefully you will find it in this market.

Many of my friends were still in the area when the Corona situation became somewhat normal and we came here with friends and had a lot of chats at that time. We also buy food from this market. There are many sweet memories here. Now I go to Habra hat a little less, because now many friends are busy with work and many have shifted to other cities for studies. This traditional market is the best one in our city, you may find something fresh here.

I went to Habra haat yesterday after many days. It was nice to go. After a long time, friends got together, ate Jilapi, and explored the whole market. Many of our traditions have disappeared today due to the evolution of time. However, there are numerous such haats in our country which continue to carry the long tradition of rural Bangla. Let the traditional bazaars survive for ages.

I really love the long-held traditions of Bangladesh's rural areas. Who could resist the abundance of merchandise and local goodness? I am enamoured that they keep the market simple and such a wonderful place to congregate. I too like that all of the things you need are centrally located here.

Great market pictures for #MarketFriday!

You say that it is cheap, but, it is easier if you give us some context, perhaps compare it to the normal price elsewhere. Thanks for taking us along!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world.

Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

I will try to provide a comparison in my next post.

Wonderful words! Traditions and cultures differ from caste to caste. But these are the identity of a nation, the diversity, culture, and greatness of a nation. There is curiosity and joy in knowing them. Your comment will encourage me a lot. Thanks a lot for your wonderful comment.
