The beautiful art of paper folding comes to the community (English/Spanish)

A loving greeting to all my Hive friends, especially to the culture lovers. On this occasion I want to share with you another wonderful cultural experience I have had in a beautiful community. Nothing less than an origami workshop, the beautiful art of paper folding. As I have told in other posts I have been an origamist for about 30 years. My first figure was a fish and from there my hands were given to this ancient art in a long experience in which I have made and taught hundreds of figures, with thousands and thousands of folds.

The workshop was held in the beautiful community of Puerto Teteo, a small commercial town in the Alberto Adriani parish of the Fernández Feo municipality, where I currently live and work. It all began with a brief introduction to the art of origami, explaining its origin in China, then its arrival and enrichment in Japan, later its long journey to the Middle East and its evolution over the years until it reached the West where it developed more as a recreational or pedagogical activity. I also told them about the importance of concentration and patience when making each fold, as well as the gratification one feels when seeing the final result. Other recommendations I like to give is to work with very clean hands and keep liquids away from the work table.

We started folding and I was thrilled, as in every workshop, to see how the participants followed my instructions and managed to capture beautiful figures on paper. To begin with, I taught them how to make a simple heart envelope. I have already made this figure on occasion to show in the beehive, so those who follow me must already know which figure it is. I showed them step by step how to make the folds needed to create each part of the heart. The participants were very attentive, following each instruction carefully. It was exciting to see how little by little the envelopes with a beautiful heart on the front were taking shape. And to see how the participants were discovering these shapes, identifying in a very natural way when the simple sheet of paper was transmuting into art. An art created by them.

After finishing the envelope, we moved on to the next figure: a lotus flower. This figure required a little more precision in the folds, but the participants proved to have a great talent for origami. With patience and determination, they managed to create beautiful lotus flowers with delicately folded petals.

Finally, I taught them how to make The Accordion Box, an impressive and utilitarian figure when it comes to storing something or giving a gift. The participants were very excited to learn how to make this fabulous design, and dedicated special care to every detail to make sure their box was perfect.

At the end of the workshop, the participants were beaming with their creations. Each one had in their hands three beautiful origami figures that had been made with love and dedication. It was amazing to see the creativity and talent of each of them, and I felt very proud to have been able to share my passion for origami with this community.

In addition to teaching them how to make origami figures, I also talked to them about the importance of practicing this art on a regular basis. I encouraged them to continue exploring new shapes and techniques, and to experiment with different types of paper and colors. Origami is an endlessly fascinating art, with limitless possibilities for creativity and self-expression.

The origami workshop in the community of Puerto Teteo was a truly enriching experience. I felt very grateful for the opportunity to share my passion for origami with others, and to see how each participant discovered the pleasure of creating beauty through simple paper folds. It was certainly an experience I will remember fondly for a long time to come.

I am delighted to share with you a new experience in the cultural field. I hope you enjoy it very much. In the short time that I have been sharing in this community I have told you about my approaches to the communities with literature, cinema and now origami. All these arts are the product of different human dynamics, that is the beauty of culture that is populated by humanity. El hermoso arte de doblar papel llega a la comunidad (Ingles/Español)

Un saludo amoroso para todos mis amigos de Hive, especialmente para los amantes de la cultura. En esta ocasión les quiero compartir otra maravillosa experiencia cultural que he tenido en una hermosa comunidad. Pues nada menos que un taller de origami, el bello arte de doblar papel. Como he contado en otros post soy origamista desde hace unos 30 años. Mi primera figura fue un pez y desde allí mis manos se entregaron a este arte milenario en una larga experiencia en la que he hecho y enseñado cientos de figuras, con miles y miles de dobleces.

El taller se realizó en la hermosa comunidad de Puerto Teteo, un pequeño pueblo comercial en la parroquia Alberto Adriani del municipio Fernández Feo, donde hago vida y trabajo actualmente. Todo comenzó con una breve introducción al arte del origami, explicando su origen en china, luego su llegada y enriquecimiento en Japón, más tarde su largo viaje a medio oriente y su evolución a lo largo de los años hasta llegar a occidente donde se desarrolló más como una actividad recreativa o pedagógica. También les conté sobre la importancia de la concentración y la paciencia al realizar cada doblez, así como la gratificación que se siente al ver el resultado final. Otras de las recomendaciones que me gusta dar es trabajar con las manos muy limpias y mantener los líquidos lejos de la mesa de trabajo.

Comenzamos a doblar y me hizo ilusión, como en cada taller, ver cómo los participantes iban siguiendo mis indicaciones y lograban plasmar en papel hermosas figuras. Para empezar, les enseñé a hacer un sencillo sobre de corazón. Esta figura ya la realice en alguna ocasión para mostrar en la colmena, así que los que me siguen ya deben saber de cual figura de trata. Les mostré paso a paso cómo realizar los dobleces necesarios para crear cada parte del corazón. Los participantes estaban muy atentos, siguiendo cada instrucción con cuidado. Fue emocionante ver cómo poco a poco iban tomando forma los sobres con un bello corazón en el frente. Y ver como los participantes iban descubriendo esas formas, identificando de manera muy natural cuando la sencilla hoja de papel iba trasmutando en arte. Un arte creado por ellos.

Después de terminar el sobre, pasamos a la siguiente figura: una flor de loto. Esta figura requería un poco más de precisión en los dobleces, pero los participantes demostraron tener un gran talento para el origami. Con paciencia y determinación, lograron crear hermosas flores de loto con pétalos delicadamente doblados.

Por último, les enseñé a hacer La caja acordeón, una figura impresionante y utilitaria a la hora de guardar algo o dar un obsequio. Los participantes se mostraron muy emocionados al aprender a hacer este fabuloso diseño, y dedicaron un especial cuidado a cada detalle para asegurarse de que su caja quedara perfecta.

Al final del taller, los participantes estaban radiantes con sus creaciones. Cada uno tenía en sus manos tres hermosas figuras de origami que habían sido hechas con amor y dedicación. Fue increíble ver la creatividad y el talento de cada uno de ellos, y me sentí muy orgullosa de haber podido compartir mi pasión por el origami con esta comunidad.

Además de enseñarles a hacer figuras de origami, también les hablé sobre la importancia de practicar este arte con regularidad. Les animé a seguir explorando nuevas figuras y técnicas, y a experimentar con diferentes tipos de papel y colores. El origami es un arte infinitamente fascinante, con posibilidades ilimitadas para la creatividad y la expresión personal.

El taller de origami en la comunidad de Puerto Teteo fue una experiencia verdaderamente enriquecedora. Me sentí muy agradecida por la oportunidad de compartir mi pasión por el origami con los demás, y ver cómo cada participante descubría el placer de crear belleza a través de simples dobleces de papel. Sin duda, fue una experiencia que recordaré con cariño durante mucho tiempo.

Me encanto compartir con ustedes una nueva experiencia en el ámbito cultural. Espero que la disfruten mucho. En el poco tiempo que llevo compartiendo en esta comunidad les he contado de mis acercamientos a las comunidades con la literatura, el cine y ahora el origami. Todas estas artes que son producto de las diferentes dinámicas humanas, esa es la belleza de la cultura que está poblada de humanidad.
