Un modelo original / An original model
He aquí un patito aseado, en su piscina personal; lo atrapé con mi cámara mientras se duchaba, pero pareciera que posara porque fue muy espontáneo en su sesión fotográfica. Debo confesar que esto de esconderse para atrapar a alguien o a algo en una foto, es emocionante; tiene cierto placer e imagino que los fotógrafos profesionales disfrutan su arte.
Here is a neat duckling, in his personal pool; I caught him with my camera while he was taking a shower, but he seemed to be posing because he was very spontaneous in his photo session. I must confess that this hiding to catch someone or something in a photo is exciting; it has a certain pleasure and I imagine that professional photographers enjoy their art.
Estuve esperando por más de media hora que el pato hiciera algo; se moviera o bailara; y no bailó o soy yo quien no puedo comprobar que la diversidad de movimientos que hizo, en realidad, no fue otra cosa que una danza particular, algún ritual propio de dicha especie o de dicho animal. Lo cierto fue que me regaló un momento de felicidad porque cómo me relajé admirando su naturaleza, disfrutando de la maravilla de su simplicidad.
I was waiting for more than half an hour for the duck to do something; to move or dance; and it did not dance or I am the one who cannot prove that the diversity of movements it made, in reality, was nothing more than a particular dance, some ritual typical of that species or of that animal. What was certain was that it gave me a moment of happiness because how I relaxed admiring its nature, enjoying the wonder of its simplicity.
Creo que hacer fotografía ayuda a cambiar nuestras perspectivas acerca del entorno que nos rodea; salir a cazar algo para fotografiarlo es de por sí una acción que exige selectividad, e imagino que la experiencia terminará por decirnos que todo lo que nos rodea es una excusa para hacer arte fotográfico. En todo caso, sé que no soy un fotógrafo, pero me gusta la idea de atrapar poses, gestos, acciones; eso es como atrapar el tiempo, como si lo detuviéramos e hiciéramos de cada foto una eternidad.
I believe that doing photography helps to change our perspectives about the environment around us; going out to hunt something to photograph it is in itself an action that demands selectivity, and I imagine that experience will end up telling us that everything that surrounds us is an excuse to make photographic art. In any case, I know I am not a photographer, but I like the idea of catching poses, gestures, actions; that is like catching time, as if we stopped it and made each photo an eternity.
Espero que hayan disfrutado de mi sesión fotográfica; por cierto, este pato le pertenece a mi madre; y ahora pasó a ser un modelo de mi cámara porque cada vez que vuelva al campo estaré pendiente de él para ver qué poses me vuelve a regalar.
I hope you enjoyed my photo session; by the way, this duck belongs to my mother; and now it has become a model for my camera because every time I go back to the country I will be looking for it to see what poses it will give me again.
