El Éxito de Nuestros Amigos [Eng-Esp]

Si hay algo mágico y maravilloso de vivir de la música es que es un camino que no transitamos solos. La armonía nace de varios sonidos que se juntan y se complementan, y esos sonidos se materializan en personas, instrumentistas y cantantes que llevan años estudiando igual que nosotros y han dominado la habilidad de crear música junto a otras personas. Este post va sobre estas personas, mis amigos, instrumentistas, cantantes, bailarines, actores y hasta muchos que no son artistas, pero son parte de la creación de un todo.

If there is something magical and wonderful about making a living from music, it is that it is a path that we do not walk alone. Harmony is born from several sounds that come together and complement each other, and those sounds materialize in people, instrumentalists and singers who have been studying for years just like us and have mastered the ability to create music together with other people. This post is about these people, my friends, instrumentalists, singers, dancers, actors and even many who are not artists, but are part of the creation of a whole.

El video que pueden apreciar aquí arriba es muy reciente, es de anoche en el Teatro Teresa Carreño de la ciudad de Caracas. Se realizaba la Opera La Traviata, y aunque ya la hemos ido a ver una y otra vez, había una peculiaridad, casi todo el elenco son nuestros amigos personales. Atrás quedaron esos días donde íbamos al teatro y admirábamos a grandes estrellas, ahora esas grandes estrellas de la música sinfónica son personas con quienes tomamos café o salen a pasear con nosotros. Jhoxiris y yo no estamos sobre la tarima esta vez, pero vaya que es un placer ir al teatro y ver el crecimiento de nuestros amigos.

The video you can see above is very recent, it is from last night at the Teresa Carreño Theater in the city of Caracas. The Opera La Traviata was being performed, and although we have been to see it over and over again, there was a peculiarity, almost all the cast are our personal friends. Gone are those days when we went to the theater and admired great stars, now those great stars of symphonic music are people with whom we have coffee or go for a walk with us. Jhoxiris and I are not on stage this time, but boy is it a pleasure to go to the theater and watch our friends grow.

Humildemente digo en el video que fui a ver a mi amigo y colega tenor Iván Cardozo y su impresionante voz que siempre he considerado de oro puro, tal como la de Pavarotti, pero evidentemente muchos compañeros tanto de la coral como de la universidad y el conservatorio se encontraban en escena y nos hicieron vivir una noche de ensueño con sus actuaciones.

I humbly say in the video that I went to see my friend and fellow tenor Iván Cardozo and his impressive voice that I have always considered pure gold, just like Pavarotti's, but evidently many colleagues from the choir, the university and the conservatory were on stage and made us live a dream night with their performances.

La pareja que nos acompaña en estas fotografías desde la butaca son dos de nuestros grandes amigos de muchos años. Ellos viven en Maracay. pero igual hicieron el esfuerzo de viajar hasta Caracas para apoyar a Iván. Cómo no hacerlo si lo conocemos desde que cantaba sus impresionantes agudos en los pasillos del núcleo de Maracay y ahora está brillando en el teatro más importante de Venezuela?. Sabía que nos encontraríamos con ellos y que habíamos comprado entradas para la misma zona del teatro, pero el destino jugó a nuestro favor y sin planificarlo los cuatro quedamos sentados juntos. Simplemente magia...

The couple that accompanies us in these pictures from the armchair are two of our great friends of many years. They live in Maracay, but they still made the effort to travel to Caracas to support Iván. How could we not when we have known him since he was singing his impressive high notes in the corridors of the Maracay nucleus and now he is shining in the most important theater in Venezuela? I knew we would meet them and we had bought tickets for the same area of the theater, but destiny played in our favor and without planning it the four of us were seated together. Simply magic...

Siempre hablaré y admiraré a mi amigo Iván, de hecho el el concierto de la Catedral de Burgos y en el Ateneo de Madrid que estábamos tan apretados nuestro jefe de cuerda nos colocó uno al lado del otro y wow, sinceramente me intimido ante su gran talento; pero igual de Iván siempre espero lo mejor y lo cumple, de hecho espero lo mismo de muchos de mis compañeros porque conozco su trabajo, pero varios me ha dejado con la boca abierta en esta Opera, especialmente el barítono Claudio González, ¡Que bárbaro! un barítono que si le da la gana puede tapar a toda la coral con su imponente proyección vocal 😱

I will always talk about and admire my friend Iván, in fact the concert at the Cathedral of Burgos and at the Ateneo de Madrid we were so tight our string leader placed us side by side and wow, honestly I was intimidated by his great talent; but I always expect the best from Iván and he delivers, in fact I expect the same from many of my colleagues because I know his work, but several have left me with my mouth open in this Opera, especially the baritone Claudio Gonzalez, what a barbarian! a baritone that if he feels like it he can cover the whole chorus with his imposing vocal projection 😱

Toda esta gente que sale en las fotografías son amistades, unos más cercanos que otros, pero representan un lugar y un momento de mi vida. Muchos son también de la coral, así que esta vez no quise ser paparazzi y perseguirlos, guardaré esas habilidades para el próximo tour de Shakira 😅 se acabó el concierto y simplemente nos fuimos a seguir pasándola bien con nuestros acompañantes, ya habrá tiempo para abrazarlos y tomarme más fotografías junto a estas grandes estrellas de la ópera a lasque puedo llamar "AMIGOS"...

All these people in the pictures are friends, some closer than others, but they represent a place and a moment in my life. Many are also from the choir, so this time I didn't want to be paparazzi and chase them, I will save those skills for Shakira's next tour 😅 the concert is over and we just went to continue having fun with our companions, there will be time to hug them and take more pictures with these great opera stars that I can call "FRIENDS"...
