The New Friend

After a week of living with Firumiau over Christmas, I think it's finally time to dedicate a post to him, and there's no better day for it than Caturday. Of course, this time the cat at my parents' house isn't the main character of the story, but rather his new friend "Mio," something that has surprised me greatly, since my family has gone to great lengths to keep our cat indoors and prevent him from interacting with other cats. Yet, this friendship was actually orchestrated by my family, who have given this little feline access to our house... Right now, on Caturday morning, after writing the title of this post, this is what's happening right next to me:

Luego de una semana conviviendo con Firumiau en Navidad, creo que al fin es momento de dedicarle un post, y no hay mejor día para ello que el Caturday. Claro que en esta ocasión el gato de la casa de mis padres no es el protagonista de la historia, sino su nuevo amigo "Mio", algo que me ha dejado muy sorprendido, ya que en casa han hecho todo el esfuerzo del mundo para que el gato no salga a la calle y no se relacione con otros gatos, pero esta amistad fue planificada precisamente por mi familia que le ha dado acceso a este minino a nuestra casa... Justo ahora, Caturday por la mañana, luego de escribir el título de este post, aquí a mi lado está ocurriendo esto:

Yes, these images contradict the title of my post, but I can definitely conclude after these past few days that they are friends. The worst cat wars have broken out in this house, even between pets from the same household, but these two treat each other with affection, and despite these strange games, they continue to share everything, their food and the playhouse that was given to Firumiau a few months ago. Watching them play has been one of the best moments I've had during these unusual Christmas days at home, and although it's been difficult to photograph them, I've made the effort to put together this little collection for Caturday.

Sí, estas imágenes desafían el título de mi post, pero vaya que sí puedo concluir después de estos días que son amigos. En esta casa se han desatado las peores guerras gatunas, incluso entre mascotas de la misma casa, pero estos dos se tratan con cariño y a pesar de estos extraños juegos siguen compartiendo todo, la comida y la casa de juegos que le regalaron a Firumiau hace unos meses. Verlos jugar ha sido de los mejores momentos que he pasado en estos extraños días de navidad en casa, y aunque ha estado complicado fotografiarlos, he hecho el esfuerzo de tener esta pequeña colección para Caturday.

Don't think Firumiau is a saint; he'll be one year old next January, so he's in one of the most rebellious stages of his short life. Wherever he goes, it looks like a hurricane has passed through. Since I don't live at my parents' house anymore, he's destroyed my childhood bedroom, and just last night he wrecked a fan I bought this very week, because when he plays, he doesn't hold back on strength and speed. I'm not surprised by his behavior; he's the first cat in this house that they've managed to keep from escaping, and in a way, I'm glad he can have his friend over here at the house where it's safe and where they can both burn off all that energy at the right times. Yes, it's not easy dealing with these little rascals, and even though they've caused me some trouble, they're still just kittens; they don't do anything on purpose, they just want to have fun... Happy Last Caturday of 2025! 😻

No crean que Firumiau es un santo, cumplirá un año de vida el próximo mes de Enero, así que está en una de las etapas más rebeldes de su corta existencia. Por donde pasa parece que ha pasado un terremoto. Como no vivo en la casa de mis padres, ha destruido mi habitación de la infancia, y justo anoche destrozó un ventilador que compré esta misma semana, ya que a la hora de jugar no mide fuerza y velocidad. No me extraña su comportamiento, es el primer gato en esta casa que han logrado controlar para que no se escape, y en cierta forma me alegra que pueda recibir a su amigo aquí en la casa donde es seguro y donde ambos pueden dejar toda esa energía a las horas correctas. Sí, no es fácil lidiar con estas bellezas, y aunque me han ocasionado algunos malestares, igual son gatitos, ellos no hacen nada a propósito, solo se quieren divertir... ¡Feliz último Caturday de 2025! 😻
