Skay Mirror in Piazza Mignanelli, Rome

Happy midweek, everyone! Today's walk reminded me how much I enjoyed exploring Spain, the country that was my first introduction to the European continent. But this time, I wasn't wandering the streets of Granada or Madrid; we were in Rome, Italy. My wife, another couple, and I went for a walk to explore the city, and without a doubt, the entire route to the Spanish Steps (Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti) was an area where, for the first time on this trip, I began to reflect on and compare what I had experienced in both countries. For example, the first photo above is of the Spanish Palace in Rome.

On our walk, we first passed through Piazza Mignanelli, where we encountered the Column of the Immaculate Conception in the middle of the square. Towards one of its corners, we saw the imposing Mirror of Heaven, a version installed here in Rome in the summer of 2025 and only on display until October. We were incredibly lucky to see this artwork by Anish Kapoor, which was part of the Orizzonti | Rosso exhibition. Piazza Mignanelli is located very close to the Spanish Steps, so we were completely captivated by the sights, the gelato, the art, and the photography. As you can see in these pictures, we couldn't stop smiling...

It was hilarious that my boss and I ran into each other that morning in the hotel lobby dressed exactly alike, as if we'd changed into matching outfits for a concert together. And yes, there was a concert that night. We walked around for hours with our actual uniforms tucked away in our bags, and we finally concluded that perhaps we should have worn more comfortable clothes. But hey, we didn't know we were only going to stop for a few moments for lunch. The Palazzo di Spagna also serves as the Spanish Embassy to the Holy See and is the most important building in the area between Piazza Mignanelli and Piazza di Spagna. We spent a significant amount of time in this area alone, among the many experiences we had that day.

I think you already know that I enjoyed every single day in Rome. The four of us you see in these photos certainly made the most of every minute. It was literally all walking, because it's a city brimming with art and beauty, and many historical sites are close to one another; you just have to plan a good route to explore them on foot. That day we started at the Trevi Fountain very early, but by midday, when we were already in this area dedicated to Spain, we had already visited a couple of churches, and we still had three more to see, plus the Pantheon. How did I manage to sing for the concert that night? 😅 Well, I don't know... There was physical exhaustion, but also the passion for music, the trip, and the adventure. It was only a week, plus our day in Madrid at the end, but it was an experience I'll never forget...

You have spent some very beautiful moments. The place is very beautiful. I wish you many more wonderful times ahead
Hello my dear! Thank you so much for your kind words. I truly appreciate these beautiful walks...
A long but satisfying walk; when you're a tourist, walking is pretty much all you do.
How funny to bump into your boss dressed the same way; that shows a lot of synchronicity.
The whole trip was wonderful, thank you very much. @jesuslnrs 🤗
Yes, wearing burgundy on the same day was great, the worst part is that it happened again a few weeks later in Caracas and in fact our wives did it too... Everyone in the choir thought it was on purpose
