Quebrada Sebucán, El Ávila, Caracas

Happy start to the week everyone! Today I have a new hiking trail to mark on our world map. The destination was Sebucán Creek, the perfect and refreshing end to a Sunday adventure in El Ávila, the great mountain north of Caracas in Venezuela. This time I went with my friend Douglas and some other people I met before starting the trail, which begins at the Central Headquarters - Forest Fire Station “Pajaritos.”

From the start, I knew this trip would be a challenge for me. The place was very lush, and a small stream ran under a bridge. The path was narrow and there was no concrete like in other places where I usually go hiking. I won't deny that I was a little worried. There were no other people on the trail, just my group, and there were six of us in total. It wasn't long before I slipped 😅 I tried to take a small shortcut and realized that it's better to leave it to the experts.

That fall embarrassed me so much. The trip had barely begun, and the only ones who saw me were the women I was getting to know. In fact, they helped me up, and within 10 minutes I was covered in dirt. How awful! But now I remember it with great amusement. They became good friends, and we are planning to return, but to climb higher. I had a second fall when the city was already visible in the distance. I got tangled up in some branches, and my friend had to remove the thorns from my neck, but only he saw me, ha ha ha. I don't know what was going on that day, but I didn't stop. I wanted to get to Sebucán Creek. That was the goal.

After enjoying beautiful views of Caracas, we finally arrived at our destination. It took us an hour, not only because I was slow due to my excess weight, but also because the girls hadn't been hiking in years. At Quebrada Sebucán, we took lots of photos and rested for a while. In fact, to appreciate it, we had to deviate from the normal route, which was a little more dangerous because all the rocks were wet, and some were not fixed to the ground. It was a lottery, and yes, I fell here for the third and last time, but no one saw me.

I had seen this place in photographs many times, and I was very happy to finally get there, take my own photographs, sit down and enjoy the view, and dip my feet in the water. We reached the bottom of the area where there was a small waterfall, and my friend suggested we go into the pool, but I wasn't really prepared for that, so we'll plan it for future opportunities. At that moment, I let go of my fears and the pain from the falls, and I even went into the stream with my phone, but everything turned out fine. It's definitely a place where I should bring my wife in the future.

I have been hiking for a few months, since January, and I have really enjoyed getting to know the imposing El Ávila mountain in Caracas, which is there for all to see, but hides many wonders in every corner. I believe that the best trips are those made on foot, setting specific goals for myself and enjoying good company. Without a doubt, there are many reasons to recharge my batteries and start a new week full of positive energy. Thank you to everyone who reads and supports my post. Until next time!

Happy new week dear friend. I love this kind of adventure and I wish that I can try this.
In our country now people don't go on such tour again because of all the evil happening in our mountains and forest. We have a lot of evil people looking for who to kidnap around here and we are so careful of where to go and what to do .
Even my early morning jugging I have stopped because people now live in fear of the unknown here and when you try going out anything might happen to you.

I love all your pictures and the people with you there. You guys look really great.
Thanks for sharing

I'm very sorry to read this comment. It makes me realize that right now is not a good time there. I'll tell you that a few years ago it was similar here, but migration was so strong that even crime disappeared, in addition to clashes with the government that eliminated many bad people. But don't be fooled, the government is also one of the bad guys.

You've caught my attention. Sometimes, with so much loneliness, I'm afraid to go up there, but I try to go with someone else. I haven't heard of any cases like that recently, but it's important to be careful. Thank you for commenting and for letting me know about this. I really enjoy it, but we have to be very careful. Hugs my friend...

Good morning, dear friend @jesuslnrs

What you're doing on the weekends is great. I'm glad you went with your friend Douglas to hike through this beautiful place.

I'm so sorry you had this problem while walking and slipped. You have to be very careful when walking on terrain like this.

It was worth all the effort, and the three falls. That place is truly beautiful, and you took beautiful photographs.

Thank you so much for sharing this adventure.

Have a happy start to the week.

Yes, brother, those falls were worth it. I've already returned via that route, I really liked it, and it was one of the coolest. Thanks for reading and commenting...

What a beautiful place you have there for hiking! The view of the city from above is gorgeous.

It's great that you didn't hurt yourself from so many falls; that terrain is very uneven.

Beautiful photos, Jesus.

¡Hola hola, muchas gracias!.

What an adventurous start to the week! 💖 Your hike is a perfect blend of challenge and reward. Hiking is such a great way to recharge ✨ It's totally relatable to have those clumsy moments, especially on new terrain, but it sounds like you handled them with great determination! ✨
