Phone Photography Contest 90 | The Same Old Place

Happy start to the week to everyone on Hive! Especially to the participants of the phone photo contest in the Feel Good community, organized by my friend @untilwelearn. We're on the 90th edition, and my inspiration has brought me back to a place I visit almost daily: Plaza Candelaria in the city center. Visually, I haven't thought it has much to offer, although there is an imposing statue of Rafael Urdaneta on horseback, the Church of Our Lady of Candelaria, where the relics of Saint José Gregorio Hernández rest, and now the two new statues of the saints.

¡Feliz inicio de semana para todos en Hive!, especialmente para los participantes del concurso de fotografías con teléfono en la comunidad Feel Good, organizado por mi amigo @untilwelearn. Estamos en la edición 90, y mi inspiración me trae nuevamente a un lugar que visito a menudo casi a diario, la Plaza Candelaria del centro de la ciudad. Visualmente he pensado que no tiene mucho que ofrecer, aunque sí hay una imponente estatua de Rafael Urdaneta sobre el caballo, la Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, donde reposan las reliquias de San José Gregorio Hernández, y ahora las nuevas dos estatuas de los santos.

The place has something special about it, there's no denying that. It's impressive how it's always bustling with people of all kinds: athletes, the elderly, children, shopkeepers, at any time of day. I pass by here almost daily, and there's always something that inspires me to take a picture with my phone. In fact, I've posted photos here from several different days. I recently made a post about this place when they remodeled it with the statues. There was a small, modest statue of Saint Carmen Rendiles, and now, less than a month later, I passed by one day and the statue was no longer small; they replaced it with a large one, like the one of the other saint. We thought that was nice...

El lugar tiene algo especial, eso no se puede negar. Es impresionante que siempre está lleno de muchas personas, y gente de todo tipo, deportistas, ancianos, niños, comerciantes, a cualquier hora del día. Paso casi a diario por aquí, y siempre hay alguna escena que me inspira a tomar una fotografía con mi teléfono, de hecho aquí he publicado fotos de varios días diferentes. Hace poco hice un post de este lugar cuando lo remodelaron con las estatuas, había una pequeña y modesta estatua de Santa Carmen Rendiles, y ahora, en menos de un mes, un día pasé y la estatua ya no era pequeña, la cambiaron por una grande, como la del otro santo. Eso nos pareció agradable...

I have to confess that taking photos here is quite difficult. First, as I already mentioned, there are so many people at any time of day; someone always ends up in the pictures. Second, there's the odd arrangement of the trees and statues in the square, and even the church—there's always something in the way of getting the perfect shot. You have to find different angles to get a good photo, but then the church and the statues are too tall to get a good close-up shot 😅 It's complicated, but it still inspires me to take photos, and I think I'm finding one I like more and more each time, like the ones I'll show you below:

Tengo que confesar que es bastante difícil tomar fotografías aquí. Lo primero, como ya les dije, es la cantidad de personas que hay en lugar a cualquier hora del día; siempre sale alguien en las imágenes. Lo otro es la extraña distribución de los árboles en la plaza y de las estatuas, incluso la iglesia, siempre hay algo que se interpone para tomar la fotografía perfecta. Hay que buscar distintos ángulos para tomar una buena foto, pero entonces la iglesia y las estatuas son demasiado altas como para tomar una buena foto de cerca 😅 Es complicado, y aún así me inspira a tomar fotos y creo que cada vez encuentro alguna que me gusta más como las que les mostraré a continuación:

Because it's so popular and an icon of Caracas, the plaza is brightly lit year-round, especially at night. It's a special place for tourists and locals alike, but as always, the arrival of Christmas makes it even more special and filled with magical lights. So far, I haven't seen many Christmas decorations, but they're there, and I have no doubt they'll increase as December progresses, which will surely inspire me to take more photos in the future 🤣

Por ser tan concurrida e ícono de Caracas, la plaza está muy alumbrada durante todo el año, y me refiero a las noches. Es un lugar especial para turistas y las personas que hacen vida en la zona, pero como siempre, la llegada de la navidad la hace aún más especial y llena de mágicas luces. Hasta ahora he visto poca decoración navideña, pero la hay, y no dudo que aumente con el paso de los días del mes de Diciembre, lo que seguramente me motivará a tomar más fotografías en el futuro 🤣

I don't think this will be the last time I share photos of this place; I'll always find a way to play with different angles. Perhaps there's an area of ​​the plaza I haven't discovered yet that's perfect for taking pictures. I'll leave you with one image where you can see that the trees are really obstructing the art and architecture of the place, and another image that shows the four main reasons to visit Plaza La Candelaria in Caracas: the church, the statue of Rafael Urdaneta, and the statues of the first two Venezuelan saints, which, as I mentioned a few weeks ago, are the newest additions to this magical place in the heart of the city. No creo que sea la última vez que comparta fotografías de este lugar, siempre encontraré la manera de jugar con ángulos. Quizás hay alguna zona de la plaza que no he descubierto y que es perfecta para tomar fotografías. Me despido con una imagen donde se puede apreciar que los árboles realmente están estorbando el arte y la arquitectura del lugar, y otra imagen donde se puede apreciar con los cuatro motivos principales para visitar la Plaza La Candelaria de Caracas, la Iglesia, la estatua de Rafel Urdaneta y las estatuas de los dos primeros santos venezolanos, que como les dije hace algunas semanas, es lo más nuevo que se puede apreciar en este mágico lugar en el centro de la ciudad.
