Ávila Mágica, Caracas, Venezuela

A special greeting to all Hive travel lovers! Today I want to share with you a dream place and experience I had with my family, my wife, my mother, and my brother. To continue our vacation, we went to Ávila Mágica, and to live up to its name, this time we found pleasant, almost winter-like weather, where we were surrounded by clouds and fog for hours. That day, the city wasn't visible in the distance, but the clouds could be seen lying on the Caribbean Sea, looking toward the state of La Guaira.

¡Un saludo especial para todos los amantes de los viajes en Hive!. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un lugar y una experiencia de ensueño que viví en familia, junto a mi esposa, mi madre y mi hermano. Para continuar con nuestras vacaciones nos fuimos a Ávila Mágica, y para hacer honor a su nombre, en esta oportunidad nos encontramos con un agradable clima, casi invernal, donde estuvimos rodeados de muchas nubles y neblina por horas. Ese día no se veía la ciudad a lo lejos, pero sí se podían apreciar las nubes recostadas sobre el mar caribe, viendo hacia el Estado La Guaira.

This isn't an easily accessible place; to reach the top of Caracas, you have to take a Jeep or the cable car. We took the cable car, as my brother hadn't experienced that yet, and the trip from Maracay to Caracas had already been long enough. That day, we paid $10 per adult, although as public officials, we could have paid less. My mother did get on for free because she's elderly, but you need to have identification, either physical or digital.

Este no es un lugar de fácil acceso, para llegar hasta la cima de Caracas hay que subir en un Jeep o en el teleférico. Nosotros subimos en el teleférico, ya que mi hermano aún no conocía esa experiencia, además de que el viaje desde Maracay hasta Caracas ya había sido lo suficientemente largo. Ese día pagamos 10 dólares por cada persona adulta, aunque como funcionarios público pudimos pagar menos. Quien sí subió gratis fue mi mamá por ser de la tercera edad, pero para ello es necesario tener la identificación, ya sea en físico o digital.

Once at the top, we found many shops offering food, drinks, games, and souvenirs. The weather at Ávila Mágica has always been different. I've been here a couple of times, and sometimes it's sunny and clear, or it can only rain on the mountain. This day was simply freezing, but it made the scenery special, with the green of August vegetation, but with a sky full of whites and sky-blues. Flowers were not long in coming, adorning the entire path from the cable car to the popular Humboldt station at the top of Caracas.

Una vez arriba nos encontramos con muchos negocios para comer, beber, juegos y suvenires. El clima en Ávila Mágica siempre he distinto, es venido un par de veces, y a veces hay mucho sol y es un día despejado, como también puede estar lloviendo solo en la montaña. Este día simplemente hacía mucho frío, pero hizo que los paisajes fueran especiales, ya que tenía el verde de la vegetación de agosto, pero con un cielo lleno de blancos y azules celestes. Las flores no se hicieron esperar y adornaban todo el pasillo desde el teleférico hasta el popular Humboldt que se encuentra en la cima de Caracas.

Of all the times I've visited this place, this is the first time we decided to do so, to see the summit at night. It was very cold and breezy, but the whole place was special. We sat down to rest and enjoy a hot chocolate with the family. We were near the Hotel Humboldt and didn't know it was there. Although the lights were already on, the fog prevented us from seeing it. But suddenly, it appeared for a few minutes, a perfect opportunity to take pictures next to it.

De todas las veces que he visitado este lugar, esta es la primera vez que decidimos hacerlo para conocer la cumbre en la noche. Hacía mucho frío y había mucha brisa, pero todo el lugar fue especial. Nos sentamos a descansar y a disfrutar de un chocolate caliente en familia, estábamos cerca de Hotel Humboldt y no lo sabíamos, y es que aunque las luces ya estaban encendidas , la neblina no permitía que pudiéramos verlo, pero de pronto apreció por unos minutos, ocasión perfecta para poder fotografiarnos junto a el.

At the end of the day, we also visited the ice skating rink, and I remember my brother being amazed by it, just like the first time I visited it. I think the best part of this trip was having a winter adventure in the middle of the August heat. It made the place feel dreamy and reminded us of some of the December emotions. Al final del día también visitamos la pista de patinaje sobre hielo, y recuerdo que mi hermano estaba muy sorprendido por ello, igual que la primera vez que yo la conocí. Creo que lo mejor de este viaje fue haber tenido una aventura invernal en medio del calor de Agosto, hizo que el lugar fuera de ensueño y nos recordó algunas emociones decembrinas.
