A Wednesday Walk from Medellin, Colombia

Happy Wednesday to all of you who post in this lovely Hive community! Today I want to share with you a little of what has been our first official walk through the center of Medellin in Colombia, and it is the Plaza Botero, a park where you can see several sculptures of the artist Fernando Botero who has a very particular way of representing the human body. First of all, it was impossible to take pictures where people did not appear, it is a very busy place for both tourists and locals, but still my wife and I had an incredible time while we were here.

¡Feliz Miércoles para todos los que publican en esta encantadora comunidad de Hive!. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un poco de lo que ha sido nuestro primer paseo oficial por el centro de Medellín en Colombia, y se trata de la Plaza Botero, un parque donde se puede apreciar diversas esculturas del artista Fernando Botero que tiene una manera muy particular de representar el cuerpo humano. De entrada les comento que fue imposible tomar fotografías donde no apareciera gente, es un lugar muy concurrido tanto por turistas como por locales, pero igual mi esposa y yo la pasamos increíble mientras estuvimos aquí.

The gordas, as many call them in Medellin are really charming, although as you can see in the picture above there is a fat man who is also very popular, as this man and this woman that you see in front of you are a couple of emblematic sculptures of the city. This square is surrounded by some places of interest, like that big castle-like structure that is the Palacio de la Cultura Rafael Uribe Uribe and at the end you can appreciate the Museo de Antioquia, which we could not enter due to time factor 😞

Las gordas, como muchos le llaman en Medellín son realmente encantadoras, aunque como pueden apreciar en la fotografía de arriba hay un gordo que también es muy popular, ya que este hombre y esta mujer que se ven de frente son un par de esculturas emblemáticas de la ciudad. Esta plaza está rodeada por algunos lugares de interés, como esa gran estructura parecida a un castillo que es el Palacio de la Cultura Rafael Uribe Uribe y al final se puede apreciar el Museo de Antioquía, al cual no pudimos entrar por factor tiempo 😞

That day there was a protest in front of the Palacio de la Cultura, so for moments I felt like I was in Venezuela, since it was during our second day in Colombia. The protest added to the strong midday sun are not a good combination, but the positive energy we had from breathing other airs, being a tourist and waiting for our main musical event made us have a great time. I took some pictures that are worth sharing even though there were many people on the same wavelength as us. My girl felt at ease on this ride, and that's all I needed...

Ese día había una protesta frente al Palacio de la Cultura, así que por instantes me sentí como en Venezuela, ya que fue durante nuestro segunda día en Colombia. La protesta sumada al fuerte sol de medio día no son una buena combinación, pero la energía positiva que teníamos por respiras otros aires, ser turista y estar a la espera de nuestro evento musical principal hizo que la pasáramos muy bien. Tomé algunas fotografías que vale la pena compartir a pesar de haber muchas personas en la misma onda que nosotros. Mi chica se sentía a gusto en este paseo, y eso es todo lo que yo necesitaba...

Museo de Antioquia

One reality was that we had to be very careful of theft, on the recommendation of the same people in the area, I think we noticed that we were tourists, but of course nothing bad happened, the people of Colombia transmitted me a lot of confidence, in fact everywhere we were treated very well. I honestly felt this area as an extension of Venezuela, regarding the people and its climate, but perhaps with more respect for the streets and parks; at least in Medellin you feel that everyone is focused on growing as a society and I dare to say that it is a good place to live, maybe a little expensive to start, but it is definitely a city that is growing and the legacy of Medellin is felt in the world through its most popular people.

Una realidad fue que nos tuvimos que cuidar mucho de hurtos, por recomendación de la misma gente de la zona, creo que se nos notaba que éramos turistas, pero por supuesto que no pasó nada malo, la gente de Colombia me transmitió mucha confianza, de hecho en todas partes nos trataron muy bien. Sinceramente sentí esta zona como una extensión de Venezuela, respecto a la gente y su clima, pero quizás con más respeto por las calles y los parques; al menos en Medellín se siente que todos están enfocados en crecer como sociedad y me atrevo a decir que es un buen lugar para vivir, quizás un poco caro para comenzar, pero definitivamente es una ciudad que va en crecimiento y el legado de Medellín se hace sentir en el mundo a través de su gente más popular.

This walk was just one of the many we did in the few days of our trip to Colombia. We always travel for work, so it is necessary to go for a walk and let ourselves be amazed by the beauties of our surroundings to clear our heads and drain the stress that sometimes leaves us with the perfectionism of a good gig. Este paseo solo fue uno de los muchos que hicimos los pocos días de nuestro viaje a Colombia. Siempre viajamos por motivos de trabajo, así que es necesario salir a caminar y dejarnos sorprender por las bellezas de nuestro entorno para despejarnos y drenar el estrés que a veces nos deja el perfeccionismo de un buen concierto. Gracias a todos los que han leído mi post y disculpen que no tenga fotos más maravillosas, generalmente espero mucho tiempo hasta que no se traviesen personas, pero bajo el sol de medio día es un poco difícil esperar 😅 ¡les deseo a todos excelente Miércoles!...
