A Walk With Friends Through the Roman Colosseum
Happy Wednesday everyone!. Today I want to share a little more about my experience exploring the Colosseum in Rome, a walk I didn't do alone, since in addition to my wife, we were accompanied by another musical couple, and the four of us had one of the best experiences of our lives. I remember that we actually decided that day to seek out this historic building on foot, precisely to get to know a little more of every corner of the city, and I loved it, because one of the best moments of the day was seeing the Colosseum in the distance, at the end of the Via dei Fori Imperiali, as you can see in these first pictures.
¡Feliz Miércoles para todo!. Hoy quiero compartir un poco más de mi experiencia recorriendo el Coliseo en Roma, una caminata que no hice en solitario, ya que además de mi esposa estábamos acompañados de otra pareja musical, y entre los cuatro vivimos una de las mejores experiencias de nuestras vidas. Recuerdo que ese día realmente decidimos buscar esta histórica edificación caminando, precisamente para conocer un poco más cada rincón de la ciudad, y me gustó, porque una de los mejores momentos del día fue ver el coliseo a lo lejos, al final de la Via dei Fori Imperiali, como pueden ver en estas primeras imágenes.
Walking around the Colosseum is quite an experience. Crazy people like me can't stop taking pictures; I literally snapped photos of everything, even the clouds and every little flower along the way. But I wasn't the only one. Tourists take tons of pictures, even in the middle of the street. Then there are the people who already live in Rome and stroll past the Colosseum without even turning around; for them, seeing it is an everyday occurrence. Maybe I'm making more noise than I should, but for someone who had truly dreamed of visiting this magnificent place, knowing it would only be for a few days was enough to fall in love with even the air I was breathing in these ruins steeped in history.
Caminar por los alrededores del Coliseo es toda una experiencia. Personas locas como yo no pueden dejar de tomarse fotografías, literalmente tomo fotos hasta de las nubes o cualquier pequeña flor en el camino, pero no era el único, los turistas se toman muchas fotos, incluso a mitad de la calle; aún así, están las personas que ya viven en Roma y que se pasean frente al Coliseo sin siquiera voltear, para ellos verlo es una experiencia diaria. Quizás yo mismo esté haciendo más ruido de lo que es, pero para alguien que realmente soñaba con conocer este imponente lugar, y saber que solo serían unos días fue suficiente para amar hasta el aire que estaba respirando en estas ruinas llenas de historia.
The guys who are with us in these photos are very dear to us. I always mention how funny it is that he's my boss and his name is Jesús, and my wife is his wife's boss, and they both share the last name Medina. The trip to Rome was full of adventures for the four of us, and their energy resonated with ours. Although Jesús had already seen the Colosseum many years ago, what can you do? Now he's in love with it, just like us. It's impossible not to see everything from a different perspective... Perhaps this place represented cruelty in the past, but today I see it as an icon of peace, where people from different nations come together and find harmony amidst these striking ruins. I remember we could stay for up to 90 minutes, and even though you can see everything by just walking around a couple of times, we still walked for the entire time and didn't even want to leave! 😅 Thanks for reading this far, a sincere hug to you 🙏
Los chicos que nos acompañan en estas fotografías son personas muy queridas por nosotros, además, siempre cuento que es muy curioso que él sea mi jefe y se llame Jesús, y que mi esposa sea la jefa de su esposa y que ambas sean de apellido Medina. El viaje a Roma significó un sin fin de aventuras entre los cuatro, y la energía que ellos tenían resonaba con la de nosotros, aunque Jesús ya había conocido el Coliseo hace muchos años ya, pero qué podemos hacer, ahora está enamorado, igual que nosotros, es imposible no ver todo desde otra perspectiva... Quizás este lugar representó crueldad en el pasado, pero hoy lo siento como un ícono de la paz, donde personas de diferentes naciones se reúnen y armonizan con estas ruinas tan llamativas. Recuerdo que podíamos estar aquí hasta un máximo de 90 minutos, y aunque dando solo un par de vueltas lo puedes recorrer todo, igual caminamos durante todo ese tiempo y hasta no nos queríamos ir 😅 Gracias por leer hasta aquí, un sincero abrazo para ti 🙏

One of the best things about tourist sites is that we can take lots of photos without anyone looking at us strangely; well, I also take lots of photos of everything.

Creo que todo turista que ve por primera, segunda y hasta tercera vez el Coliseo quiere tomarse fotografias como si no hubiese un mañana jaja es normal, ver semejante monumento historico no es algo diario para los turistas, para algunos sí, para otros no 😂
Visiting such historical.ppaces alwsys leave a fin imprint in our memory. You are not different in taking pictures from all the angles, I like that too..it helps to keep memory of the place fresh...amazing places...

Greetings, my friend "Jesus the Italian" hahaha. Wow, those are some amazing photos! What an experience, brother. Being there is like breathing pure history. It's a truly iconic place—it's history, art, culture, and so much more. Your faces say it all; you can feel the joy of how much fun you had. Almost at the very last photo, where you're taking a selfie with the Colosseum behind you, it's epic. You can clearly see a complex network of tunnels, cages, and underground chambers where the shows were prepared.
I also wanted to share this interesting fact I read on Google: These tunnels are called "The Hypogeum," and in addition to what I already mentioned, a private tunnel was also built connecting an exterior entrance directly to the imperial box, allowing the emperor to access it without mingling with the crowds. My brother, you were in a unique place, steeped in history.
