Hello everyone! I have written several posts inspired by my hometown, Maracay, in the state of Aragua, Venezuela, and this will be the last one. My trip to Maracay only lasted one day and was very busy. I had to go with my mom to the city center to accompany her on some errands, and we were caught in the strong midday sun, but I still enjoyed the trip. There was a moment that was just for me, and I took advantage of it to explore and photograph many places.

C.C. La Capilla

That's where I started my walk from the Maestranza Cesar Girón. That's where we got out of the taxi and my mom went to run some errands at the clinic across the street. When I started studying music, I passed by the bullring almost every day, and I remember that we always took pictures with the statue of the bull and the bullfighter. I saw that it was very neglected, which I find unfortunate, but I don't know what this place is used for nowadays. Perhaps some Hivers from Maracay could tell me. Then I went to the Casa de la Cultura and the Aragua Symphony Orchestra, opposite the Aeronautical Museum, and then went back up Avenida Casanova Godoy on my way to the Ateneo de Maracay.

I was very surprised to find that the Ateneo de Maracay is no longer in operation. I attended very special plays and concerts here during my teenage years, but its sky blue façade looks great. In this area, I visited the Sanctuary of Mother Mary of Saint Joseph and the La Capilla Shopping Center, but I crossed Bolívar Avenue to visit the Gran Bazar Shopping Center and, further south, the Paseo Estación Central Shopping Center.

Plaza Bolívar was undoubtedly my favorite place. In addition to the coolness of the trees, it is surrounded by beautiful architecture such as the Government Palace, the Military Academy, the Civil Hospital, the Opera House, and even the Sindoni Tower looks great from there, even though it is one block further east. As I said in a previous post, this square is worth visiting when you travel to the capital of Aragua State.

I'm glad I visited downtown Maracay on that day trip. I think the time that has passed has made me appreciate my own city more. We always change in life, and returning to a place makes you see things differently, for better or for worse. In my case, I enjoyed this trip. There are many historical sites in this part of the city. In fact, my tour didn't cover all the important buildings, although I can confirm that it's the hottest city I've ever been to. That's the only thing I don't miss, but for a day trip, I thought it was great...

What a nice ride @jesuslnrs. I had heard of the maestranza Cesar Giron back in the days when there were bullfights, but I had never seen it. Thanks to your photos I was able to get to know it.

The truth is that I don't even know what it looks like inside. If my parents ever took me there, I must have been very young, but it is certainly an imposing building in Maracay. I hope they maintain it soon. Thank you friend, for visiting!...

I don't know, my friend, if you come to Venezuela, it's better not to go to Maracay, ha ha ha, unless you really like the heat 🤣 Caracas is preferable, but whatever you decide, I hope God grants you the opportunity to travel 🙏
