Uno de los pilares de la misión que realizamos en Pavia fue la obra de evangelización. Dentro de nuestra fe, esta palabra tiene un gran significado, puesto que derivando del griego "evangelio" nos hace consciente que lo que llevamos es una "buena noticia", pues es nada más y nada menos que el anuncio del mensaje de Jesucristo el cual no es sólo palabras sino hechos concretos. Un interesante episodio que en estos días misionales vivimos lo ilustra perfectamente.

Visitando algunos hogares nos conseguimos con uno donde la familia se encontraba muy triste y desconsolada ya que se encontraba con un miembro muy enfermo. Se trataba de una señora de avanzada edad. Al enterarme de ello, luego de intercambiar algunas palabras con una de sus hijas, le pregunté si le gustaría que orasemos juntos por ella, ella accedió y la seguimos hasta el cuarto donde se encontraba la señora.

Hicimos una oración pidiendo la sanación y fortaleza para la señora así como el consuelo para sus hijos, luego nos retiramos con una sensación maravillosa de haber compartido un momento sumamente hermoso y espiritual con esas personas. Un día antes de volver a Barquisimeto, le quisimos llevar un obsequio a la señora, un cuadro del doctor José Gregorio Hernández, cuál fue nuestra grata sorpresa al verla mejor, más consciente y hasta conversadora. Al final, nos dió la bendición a todos los misioneros.

Salimos de la casa con una gran lección y bendición, que Dios no es sólo palabras sino hechos y que es espectacular poder sentir y hacer sentir esta realidad que por eso no es un anuncio vacío sino lleno de total sentido, éste es el Evangelio en su plenitud.

One of the pillars of the mission we carried out in Pavia was the work of evangelization. Within our faith, this word has a great significance, since it derives from the Greek "gospel" and makes us aware that what we carry is "good news", since it is nothing more and nothing less than the announcement of the message of Jesus Christ, which is not only words but concrete deeds. An interesting episode that we experienced during these missionary days illustrates this perfectly.

Visiting some homes we came across one where the family was very sad and disconsolate because one of its members was very ill. It was an elderly lady. When I heard about it, after exchanging a few words with one of her daughters, I asked her if she would like us to pray together for her, She agreed and we followed her to the room where the lady was.

We said a prayer asking for healing and strength for the lady as well as comfort for her children, then we left with a wonderful feeling of having shared a very beautiful and spiritual moment with those people. One day before returning to Barquisimeto, we wanted to take a gift to the lady, a picture of Dr. Jose Gregorio Hernandez, what a pleasant surprise to see her better, more conscious, and even conversational. In the end, she gave us the blessing of all the missionaries.

We left the house with a great lesson and blessing, that God is not only words, but deeds, and that it is spectacular to be able to feel and make feel this reality, which is not an empty announcement, but full of meaning, This is the Gospel in its fullness.
