Last minute walk to end a dismal day

DSC_0016.JPG

When browsing my following feed, I saw several good #wednesdaywalk posts by my friends.
I made a hurried decision to get out of the house for a moment.
To be sure, all I did was walk around my home, but still.

DSC_0003.JPG

I don't think I've shown this yet, the walkway I installed up the slope so I won't be tracking in clay every time I go out to pick or water my garden.
So much work left to do

DSC_0004.JPG
Speaking of my garden, that pinkish flower to the right is a Mandavilla that I kept from last year, in a pot inside all winter.
I think it came out well

Zinnias along the wall of my studio building, I have a milkweed planted in there in hopes of feeding the Monarch Butterflies.

Butternut squash and maters coming out all over

My home from the street
Notice the Hydrangea to the right?
It has several colors at once, I don't think it's made up its mind what it wants to do.

DSC_0008.JPG
I'm surprised the one on the left is alive, as it was run over and nearly plowed up by a bobcat (small bulldozer)

My little painted Turtle is hanging on, I've had to reglue it once since I painted it and placed it out here at the end of my drive almost 4 yrs ago

↑Mimosas at the end of my neighbors driveway. They are beautiful to look at in bloom, they smell great up close (which I did not know until I got up here to this area) but they are horribly invasive, non native species.

The view down that driveway (my house is now to the right)

↑In the woods behind my neighbor's house
Now I go thru my back gate

(Gate is off to the right out of frame)
This side yard was a nightmare a year ago, I planted the grass and had much of the brambles and old remains of a dog yard removed

DSC_0014.JPG
Oh I have come SO FAR along creating this patio, doing most of the work myself after the retaining wall was built, and it's killing me.
The automotive problems I discovered this morning will likely call a halt to any more purchases for that for now. I just hope all the plugs of Irish Moss I've put in will catch and grow rapidly.

Still, I have my little water feature to listen to and try to calm myself.

I guess I'm a walking man

Hey Jerry it's good to see you!

The garden is looking lovely this year. Everything looks very healthy and lush. How are you and Tom doing?

Tom is depressed because I have two new fur babies.
Felix (the cat)

And SSSSSssssylvester (no tweetie)

Tom is staying outside most of the time, tolerating them when He must.

These little bastards are a joy and a bane, they sleep all day and want to play all night, IN MY BEDROOM

Hey Jerry, wow your garden looks amazing. So fresh and definitely well kept. I love how much effort you've put into it. Hope the automotive issues get sorted soon. Hope Tom's holding up well too.

Sorted yes, lets hope it doesn't cost me the price of a new car (exaggeration)
I've an appointment with a mechanic in the morning, no idea how much that will cost nor how long they will keep my car.
If they want to keep it for a couple of days, that means renting something, itself not cheap.
I have an appointment NEXT WEEK at the dealership, and I KNOW they will keep it several days and charge me an arm and a leg, all to figure out why my left front turn signal doesn't work suddenly (all bulbs have been replaced)

A very good option to have placed some stones in your garden, you have to distract yourself a good time in that place.
Greetings @jerrytsuseer

You've made a lot of progress on that patio since I checked in on you last. You have made many improvements on the place since you moved in. It's looking great!

I remember when you bought this house, and can see just how much work you've put into it! You've done a great job! I can see your vision. It's already much more friendly and useable, and will be gorgeous when you get more done. I can hear how tired you are from your post, but look at all these successes! The mandevilla is wondrous - how long does it take from inside to that? I wonder if it would work here, upstate NY. Does it climb? And those veggies look very good! Never mind invasive, that view down your street is luscious. You've done really well there.

Thanks @owasco ,re:the Mandivilla I got 2 the same age and development.
1 I put in the ground, it didn't make it through the Winter.
This one I left in the pot, fed it, trained it (yes they climb) it was still blooming when I brought it in against the cold
It bloomed all Winter in my greenhouse but,due to my depression and health I neglected watering around February and it began to loose leaves and blooms
Thank God I was able to get it and me back into the sunlight.
I think it will look glorious in the coming months

I'm about to go get my car, pay $350 for the diagnostic and a new battery.
That will cut short any more expenditures for the rest of the month ha ha ha

Oh man, I'm sorry. Cars are such headaches. I recently had one mechanic tell me that I needed a new alternator for $1000, so I took it to someone else, who put in a new battery for $200. That fixed the problem. Why all of a sudden are we all paying for the diagnostics?

This turned out to be something really simple, but still costly:
"Found a poor connection in the left front turn signal socked probably due to being aftermarket headlight assembly.
Connections can be suspect at times, turn signal is working at this time.
Noticed that the battery is over 4 yrs old, did a quick test showing that it is still marginal and working okay, but would advise replacing the battery soon."
Battery $163.83
Labor $141.27
Hazmat??? $3.66
Tax $10.11
Total
$323.46

Hazmat is probably disposal of the battery. Four years doesn't seem long. Mine was ten years old when I had to replace it. I've been very lucky with this car, Honda Fit. I love the thing.

I love my Kia as well, but for my needs these days, it is often not large enough.
My neighbor said that batteries round here are good if they last more than 3 yrs. Mine was still good but getting weak

Your garden looks good and I think a walk in nature, no matter the location is always a good idea:)
Have a nice day!

My day at the mechanic will begin shortly, I can think of MANY things I would rather be doing, but thanks. You have a great day as well
