Holiday getaway at Kawas Beach Resort

Unplanned trips are more successful and the best. Life is short, say yes to an abrupt invitation.

Last Friday April 21, 2023 was declared as a holiday here in the Philippines because of the celebration of Eid al-Fitr by our Muslims friends worldwide.

My brother realizing that holiday falls on Friday, he calls me and invite to have a night swimming by Thursday. He said he want us to have a family bonding that we haven't done ever since. I asked him where, what to bring and our transportation. He said we will use two motorcycles plus our tricycle. We can't decide easily because of the transportation because we know it is not enough. We have a long discussion until we ended up renting a multicab for all of us and we will go to the beach on Friday morning.

We wake up early and prepare some food. I cooked rice and meatless spaghetti while my brother cooked chicken adobo. We bring some fruits like watermelon and apple then we bought fish along the way for soup and grilled fish. That's enough to fill our hungry stomach while on the beach.

HOW TO GET THERE?

Kawas Beach Resort is located at Alabel, Sarangani Province. You can go there alone, with friends or with family through motorcycles, vehicles or you can also ride on public transportation.

We traveled 1 hour and 20 minutes from our place at Barangay Cannery, Polomolok South Cotabato.

ENTRANCE FEE AND COTTAGES

This beach resort is affordable for many as the entrance fee is only 30.00 ($0.6). My son and his cousin which are five years old is free.

They have a simple, same sizes cottages that costs 500.00 ($10).

THE BEACH AND THE WATER

The beach is clean and they have a fine sand. You can't find non biodegradable waste on the beach but you can see some sticks, leaves brought by the waves of the water but overall, it's okay.

The water is clean and clear and really good for swimming.

This is my nephew who found log along the beach and use it as his little boat that helps him float in the water.

Some time I and the kids collected some white corals and we formed it into something like a plant.

During high tide, the water is near and you can enjoy swimming not so far from the cottages.

During low tide, you can visit the part with mangroves. Many of us went there to have some pictures and look for some beautiful creatures there. It is so good seeing those trees growing so beautiful, tall and big in the water.

It is also a good time to enjoy the beauty of the sky with the combination of clouds plus the coconut trees on the beach or the sky along with the sea.

We also found some fish who is so shy or afraid having us there as they swim so fast and hide along rocks.

We also found some brittle stars that looks scary to others but brings joy to some.

I also saw this one but I can't identify it. I tried to touch it and it's hard like a stone. So you know what is it?

We also enjoy playing and burying our body on the sand as it is believed that it could help relax our body.

Kawas Beach Resort is a good place to go when you're looking for affordable beach that you and your family could relax, enjoy and have some fun.

We really had fun that day and so happy that for one day we had the chance to relax and felt free from any responsibilities.

That was our unplanned trip, abrupt travel yet ended so well. Thanks to my brother who sponsored more that trip.
