Wednesday walk and sightseeing in Pancevo, Serbia
Hello everyone, last week I was happy to walk again in the Pancevo town near Belgrade in Serbia, but this time it was a short business trip and great opportunity for #wednesdaywalk challenge, hosted by @tattoodjay.
My colleagues and I visited our colleagues who work in the shops of the same company we work for in other cities. As we work in a team that deals with communications, we went to ask them how they are doing in terms of communication, if they have any suggestions...
The first town we visited that day was Pancevo. When I was last in this town, the weather was very cold and the town was empty and gloomy. It was a completely different impression than now.
This time, since it was the end of summer, the weather was sunny and warm, the city was completely different and I felt like I was there for the first time. My first impression was that people here even walk differently than in my city, they are slower, more relaxed, there is no tension in the air and it is easier to breathe.
One of the colleagues we visited took us through the whole city and we did a mini sightseeing tour.
Along the way, we saw beautiful buildings and mostly Austro-Hungarian architecture.
My special attention was drawn to the gymnasium attended by the famous scientist Mihajlo Pupin. The famous writer Milos Crnjanski also worked as a professor in that gymnasium.
Among the oldest buildings in Pancevo is the 18th-century Roman Catholic Church of St. Charles Borromeo.
We heard that it is the only place in the city where you can hear an organ.
The colleague who guided us through the city told us that Pancevo is a film town and showed us the places where cult movies of Serbian cinematography were shot.
We passed by an attractive cafe that is housed in an old train and looks very retro and nice.
We wanted to spend some time in the garden, but we didn't have time, so we continued on to the Tamis river.
The promenade by the river is so peaceful, we enjoyed the views...
What is characteristic of this river, and what a colleague told us, is that it is always calm, it has a flat surface, so it is a place where the locals like to relax and rest.
On the way back to the parking lot from where we continued our journey to other cities, I took some more photos of the surroundings.
Unfortunately, there was not enough time for the city park full of greenery this time, but we ended this short sightseeing with a view of the park.
Thank you for reading.
