The deepest peace on the shortest river in Serbia, Vrelo

Hi everyone, I hope you have a great weekend! On our way back from a peaceful cruise along the Drina river, we made a stop at one of Serbia's most fascinating hidden gems, Vrelo. It is known as the shortest river in Serbia and one of the shortest in Europe.

When I was a child, my parents took me on a trip to Perucac, and then we also visited this river. The feeling was exactly the same, Vrelo feels like a place untouched by time.

I was a child then, so I didn't experience nature in the same way, and that's the only difference. Now I respect these gifts of nature much more. But what has remained the same is the feeling you have in this place, peace, freedom and freshness.

I remember that the most interesting thing to me then was that this river is also called "the year" because it is exactly 365m long, as long as the year has days.

I told this to my kids and they listened carefully. I love when I share with them some interesting facts about such beautiful places and teach them to appreciate what nature gives us every day, and with that comes the feeling of giving back to it.

Located near Bajina Bašta, at the foot of the Tara mountain, next to the Perucac lake, Vrelo is famous for its crystal-clear river and visitors are happy to stop here to take a break.

Despite its short length, the river leaves a powerful impression. The fresh mountain air, the sound of flowing water, and the deep green surroundings instantly create a feeling of calm.

The water was unbelievably clean and transparent, I enjoyed watching the reflections.

Small wooden bridges, lush trees, and the untouched nature around us made the entire place feel like a secret oasis hidden from the busy world.

There was something incredibly grounding about standing there, breathing in the fresh air and listening only to nature.

There is also a restaurant where you can stop by if you are hungry. We were not there this time because we ate in Višegrad.

After the movement and excitement of the Drina cruise, Vrelo offered another amazing experience, slow, peaceful, and deeply relaxing. It reminded me how important it is to pause sometimes and appreciate those simple moments.

What a beautiful place! As I always say, there are natural gems everywhere, and the Vrelo River is one of them. One of the most interesting things about it is its length, exactly 365 metres, making it the shortest river, yet it’s absolutely lovely, with such peace and tranquillity. I also loved the reflections, but even more so the wooden bridges that let you walk along it.

Thank you for sharing this very special place, full of magic. Big hugs!!🤗

That's right, it would be great if lots of people committed to looking after nature – it's life itself. Thank you!
