Discovering Pozarevac in Serbia for the first time
The last town I visited in my recent mini-tour through Serbia was Pozarevac, located in the southeast of the country.
My first impression was the wide boulevards as if we had arrived in a metropolis, but in fact we hadn't. I liked that feeling of spaciousness and enough space to walk without being crowded because I usually move through narrower streets.
While we were walking towards the shop where our colleagues work, which we wanted to visit on this occasion, I looked around a bit. As this was our last city that day and we stayed for a long time in the previous two towns, we had the least amount of time left here. And I'm sorry about that because the city is full of historical sights that are worth exploring.
While walking, we came across the window of the tourist organization of this city full of traditional items and souvenirs that show the soul of this city: horseshoe for luck, "opanci" (traditional old shoes), "šajkača" (traditional men's cap), paintings and more.
In this city, there are many cafes where people sit for a break at work or after work. Life in a small town is much calmer and it seems that people spend their time better because they don't spend it on public transport and crowds.
Also, there are many craft workshops, pastry shops...
In addition to the wide boulevards, there are also narrow streets that we came across that are a little more heavily loaded with traffic.
Although I didn't have as much time as I wanted to see the sights of this city in detail, I managed to see something interesting. I stopped by the city park, where I found the end of the manifestation that was held that day, called Come out to me on a jar.
It is a competition in making "ajvar", a special spread made of roasted peppers, a very popular traditional side dish in Serbia. It is held in several cities at the same time.
When I arrived, the exhibitors at the event were already packing, but I asked them about their impressions and even met the team that won the medal.
This was my first time in Pozarevac and I saw that it is worth exploring, so I will definitely come again.
Thank you for reading.

Požarevac made a fantastic first impression with those wide boulevards! 💖 It's always a shame when you run out of time to explore...but stumbling upon the ajvar competition and meeting the winners is such a great, authentic travel moment 🙌 That's a story you wouldn't find in a guidebook 🫡
Yes, those unexpected moments like the ajvar competition are what make travel truly memorable...

Even with limited time, you managed to get a real taste of local life, from the cafes to the craft workshops. I can see why you’d want to come back, there’s so much more to explore!
Exactly! Even a short visit shows how much there is to discover. It is a place worth returning to...
That's definitely one of those towns worth coming back to.🤗
Pozarevac looks amazing! I love the mix of wide boulevards and narrow streets, it seems like you can enjoy a calm walk without losing the charm of small-town life. The ajvar competition sounds so fun too, definitely something unique to experience.
Glad you liked it! 😊 Požarevac really has that special balance of charm and calm, and the ajvar competition makes it even more authentic and fun.
