Back to the Ancient age - a visit to a Celtic village in Serbia
Hello everyone, I hope you have a good day! Last weekend I visited the Celtic village near Indjija town in Serbia with my family. My son loves educational and entertaining content, especially when it relates to the distant past, so we embarked on this adventure that I would recommend to everyone. It is fun for adults too.
We arrived in the early afternoon and passed through the gate. From that moment we felt like stepping into another time.
My kids were especially fascinated and happy. They ran from house to house, eager to touch everything and imagine themselves as little Celts.
Their first activity was embroidery, which women from the Celtic village used to decorate clothes and bags.
The village is beautifully built with authentic wooden houses with walls made of clay and straw. You feel like you are really in that time when everything was simple yet warm. We first stopped at the bakery, which my kids liked the most.
It has a thatched roof all the way to the floor. The curator explained to us that the Celts did not have kitchen in their houses, but gathered in these bakeries and ate together.
My kids liked the dolls placed inside, so they immediately said - this is my mom. 😊
And a dad in his pajamas. 😊
We laughed a lot. Nearby, there was also a forge, we had a look at the old tools.
Another highlight was the druid, dressed in traditional clothes, who once told stories under the shade of a tree.
Druids were the most respected people in the village, they were literate, had a lot of knowledge and knew plants well. We were all fascinated when we saw the wax figure of the druid, it seemed as if there was a real person next to us.
My husband even thought he was alive and standing in a museum.
We were also excited when we saw his house.
It was big and inside there were some interesting tools such as stick with a snake, a pen for writing...
The pottery workshop was also there.
We saw their vessels, pots, many of which are authentic and excavated at an archaeological site nearby.
We also saw original items that belonged to the Celts in the mini museum that was also there.
It was fun to imagine life when people needed these items and how they made them from natural materials. For example, musical instruments were made from leather, horse hair, wood, etc.
The village leader was Brenos. My son was delighted with him.
Especially when we entered his house.
Even when we took a snack break, he ordered a sandwich called Brenos, after his name. We ate by the lake and enjoyed the ambiance.
After exploring the village, my kids wanted to try themselves in the adventure park, climbing and balancing and descending on the zip line.
And what was even more interesting to my kids than the adventures in the park was archery and fencing.
My daughter was particularly good at archery. I enjoyed watching them.
The Celtic Village is a tourist spot where both children and adults can have a good time, because there are many stories that they can carry home. If you're ever in the area, stop by and step back in time.
Thank you for reading. I hope you found it as interesting as I did.
