Back to the 12th century - Church of St. Martin in Slovenia

During our recent trip to Lasko, a charming Slovenian town best known for its thermal water and beer, we took a quiet afternoon to visit the Church of St. Martin.

The church is located on a small hill just above the town center and offers not only spiritual calm but also a beautiful view of the Savinja River and surroundings.

This church is also one of the most important sights here and has great historical value.

The Church of St. Martin dates back to the 12th century, although it had several renovations over time. It is very simple from the outside, elements of different historical periods are visible.

In front is a square and in the immediate vicinity there are other sights such as the Lasko museum.

We went inside too look around the interior.

It is a Catholic church with 10 altars and the main altar is dedicated to St. Martin.

Inside, the church is simple yet dignified, with a serene and peaceful atmosphere.

This year, Easter was celebrated on the same day by both Catholics and Orthodox, so the festive spirit was felt. There were also Easter eggs, traditionally colored red.

This church is a lovely spot to slow down, take a breath, and go back a bit in history. And the locals seem to appreciate it very much as a landmark.
