Back to the 11th century in Titel, Serbia
I am happy whenever I have a chance to explore the area with my family. We usually go to some places that are close to our city, Belgrade, and sometimes we go a long way. We are often surprised how many places we have never visited and they are so close.
On a recent family outing, we ventured to Titel to experience both history and nice landscapes. Our first destination was the Kalvarija viewpoint, located on Titelski breg (Titel's hill), above Titel town.
This spot holds deep roots in time originally part of an 11th-century Augustinian monastery fortified against invasions. That's what we found out there.
And what we also discovered is that it was destroyed several times during wars and rebuilt. Only these walls are left of it, which today bear witness to the past.
We spent some time there, enjoying the stunning views of the confluence of the Begej and Tisa rivers and Titel's surroundings.
While we were up there, we heard the noise of children from the direction of the coast, and we realized that there must be a beach down there.
We went down to the river. The atmosphere there was completely different - laughter, water, and play replaced the silence of Kalvarija.
Titel gave us both peace and joy and we stayed a little by the river so that our children could play on the playground on the coast. We didn't bathe, but they didn't miss the opportunity to get their feet wet. 😊
On the way back, we passed through the town center and there we found peace and quiet again. Next to the river, this place is definitely the liveliest.
Thank you for reading.

Hvala Jeco za ovaj predivan post. 🫶 Ako bude prilike doći ću u Titel da obidjem ove lokacije. Prelepo je.
Title looks like the kind of city I will love full of historical cast with a wonderful lake and a calm atmosphere ❤️❤️
It's a very small town but nice for a weekend getaway. It's not actually a lake, but the confluence of two rivers.
What a beautiful family trip, Jelena! I love how Titel offered you both history and playtime for the kids — such a perfect mix of peace and joy. The views from Kalvarija look stunning!
I think that the historical value here is the greatest because it does not offer much in terms of tourism. But it is nice for a picnic and a short stay. Thanks!
Exploring a nice place and then discover an ancient architectural marvel is really great! Another pleasant and beautiful that you share here with us of your amazing country! Thanks 🤗
I'm really glad you liked it! Discovering such hidden gems makes our lives more special... 😊

Wow, what an interesting picture my friend, have a nice day 🤗🤗
Nice place
There is a strange feeling whenever I get to see ruins like these. Something inside of me is happy and grateful to still observe a genuine piece of history, while a different side of me believes we are really lucky not to live that kind of life anymore. Yet we still complain everywhere that the world is not a good place right now!
I feel the same way. Ruins really put things into perspective, they remind us of both the struggles of the past and the privilege of our present..
This is a place where history and everyday life meet perfectly, offering both reflection and simple joys.💕
Yes, exactly, a place where history and everyday life meet so naturally...
Thanks for sharing this wonderful place!🤗
What a fine outing of a family! I like that you touched both history and nature in Titel. The ruins of the old monastery and the river scenes are wonderful places to see, and the reality that your children had fun playing by water is a great sign. Thanks much for joy sharing your experience it is peaceful fun.😊
