Autumn walk through history in Topola, Serbia

Hello everyone, last weekend I finally found some time to travel outside my city and visit some interesting places that I want to share with you. My children always look forward to our trips and I am happy that on the one hand I enjoy creating content for my Hive blog and on the other hand I like to make them happy too. I passed on my love for traveling and exploring to them and now they can't wait every weekend for us to go somewhere.

Last weekend we were in a small town called Topola, located less than 100 km from Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is a small place, with a big history, where you come across traces of the past at every step.

Topola is best known for the mausoleum church where Karadjordje, a great Serbian military leader from the 18th century, is buried.

He was the progenitor of the famous Serbian royal dynasty Karadjordjevic. His name translated into English means Black Djordje (George), because of his great power, courage and daring, he caused fear in his enemies, so they gave him that nickname.

Autumn weather is very inspiring for walking, so we enjoyed the stunning landscapes of the oak forest on the estate of the Karadjordjevic dynasty.

It was obvious that Karadjordje had chosen a beautiful place where he would have an estate and spend his time.

The children collected acorns along the way and were delighted when they found a mushroom under a fallen leaf.

There is a very picturesque path through the entire forest that leads to the mausoleum church.

When we saw the church it was so imposing.

The last time I was here was when I was a child, when we had a school trip, but now the impressions are completely different. The nature is fantastic and the air is very fresh, so we wanted to stay as long as possible.

We entered the church.

I felt strange inside. The thought that many members of the Karadjordjevic dynasty were buried there kept running through my mind as I looked at the frescoes on the wall and ornaments.

You feel some reverence inside, especially when you go down into the crypt.

I was impressed with the mosaics. You can see them everywhere you turn around.

The mosaic of this church is one of the largest in the world and represents a valuable cultural heritage.

After seeing the church, we started for a walk behind the church because we were told that there are vineyards of the Karadjordjevic dynasty.

When we saw the expanse, we were amazed. The views were fantastic.

Opposite the church is the house of King Peter I, the grandson of leader Karadjordje, which I will write about in my next post when I will continue my historical tour.
