A visit to Grocka, a village on the banks of the Danube
There are many places that impress you easily, at first glance. Although you didn't expect it to be like that when you decided to go there. Sometimes I just like to go out of the city somewhere and escape from the busy reality that puts more and more pressure on me and makes me rush. Sometimes I'm even afraid to stop because I think everything will fail. And that's why at that moment I decide to run away. At least to a nearby village.
This weekend my place to escape was a village near Belgrade called Grocka. When we arrived, we immediately went down by the river to enjoy the silence. Grocka is located on the banks of the Danube. It is a fishing village with a long history and unique spirit.
In my city Belgrade, there are several quays by the river and when it's a warm day, there are usually a lot of visitors. That's why this time I went to the quay, which is far from the city and where we could enjoy peace and silence.
This place is often called the place where life began. The first European civilization - the Vinča culture - was born there several millennia ago. There are several raft restaurants on the quay where you can eat good fish soup.
There are also the inhabitants of the Danube, the geese and ducks that my children fed and hung out with.
After walking along the Danube, we went to the center of town. I was impressed by how many old houses there were. I felt as if time had stopped.
We entered the courtyard of the village church of the Holy Trinity and discovered that it was built at the end of the 19th century.
The yard is spacious and well maintained.
And the interior is decorated with old icons.
We continued to walk along the promenade. It is a gathering place for locals. Along the entire promenade are old authentic houses that preserve the charm of the old times.
Our attention was drawn to a monument that represents a typical woman of this place. She is healthy, strong and beautiful. And she holds a basket of fruit in her hand because the most delicious fruit in the country is grown in this place.
The road took us further to an interesting place, which I will write about in my next post.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
Jelena

Hi, I am happy to read this! Thanks!🤗
Cute ducks 😊 wanna feed them too..
It's relaxing to stay by the bank with the calming scenery
They are cute, but they were a little aggressive when they came out of the water, we could hardly defend ourselves from them 🤣
This looks so familiar, lol! I remember exploring the villages on the Danube from my country and it's a completely different world for sure. Love seeing it from other countries too, but I think you would love a journey in Romania since it shelters the biggest part of Danube :)
I would love it for sure! I have to explore Romania. I saw in the posts here on Hive a lot of nice places there!
There are plenty of them. Yet never enough time to see everything :)
Nice place. I love the view including the structured church, cute ducks/ducklings and the waving sea. 😊
I have never been to Grocka, but every time that lies on the banks of the river Danube is beautiful! Love those geese and ducks! They were probably the main attraction to your kids!
Nice small town... It would be nice to visit it once! 😃 To create a Hive Meetup on that boat restaurant... 😃
I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project! Check out our Reading Suggestions Posts!

The Hive Meetup would be a great idea, we would bring some life to this quiet place! 😊The geese were interesting to my kids until they came out of the water and started chasing them 🤣
hahahaha... I have some bad memories from my childhood were geese chased me... 😂
A very calm and comfortable looking village. It's amazing to view older houses and building in the middle of a town. Like a cinnamon roll, a towns center is often the best. It's history is held there! I love the interior of the Church of Holy Trinity.
I'm sure the kids enjoyed their time feeding the geese 😊 A very nice visit you have shared 💚

Moreover, I would very much like to follow in your footsteps.
There are many beautiful places on the Danube worth visiting, I'm sure in your country too! 😊
You are right and I have visited a few places on both the Romanian and Serbian side, both have fairytale places.
