A peaceful day in Tiganjica, Serbia
Helloo dear people and members of the Daily Blog community! I hope you are having a good days. After returning from Titel, which I wrote about in the previous post, my family and I visited ethno village Tiganjica, near Zrenjanin in Serbia. We have been there several times so far and we are happy to return.
Tiganjica brings the traditions of Banat to life, with old-style houses, wooden details, and decorations that remind you of how people once lived. It's a nice place and it felt like stepping into another time.
One of the most charming sights in ethno village Tiganjica is the traditional windmill, standing proudly as a symbol of Banat’s rural heritage. These wooden structures were once essential for grinding grain, providing food for families and communities. Today, they serve as a beautiful reminder of the past, inviting visitors to imagine life when the rhythm of the wind powered everyday work. Surrounded by the peaceful nature of the village, the windmill adds a touch of tradition to the landscape, making it a interesting spot for both children’s curiosity and adults’ admiration.
The village is surrounded by greenery, and everywhere you look there is a sense of peace.
Walking through, I felt the calm rhythm of rural life, slower, softer, and so different from everyday city noise. That's why this day was very special. At least for a short time we were not in the rush of everyday life and we relaxed.
I was fascinated by the many objects from the past carefully displayed in the old-style courtyard. Wooden tools and everyday items told silent stories of Banat's rural life. I especially loved seeing red strings of peppers hanging from the walls, bringing both color and tradition into the space. Every corner felt alive with memories, and it was easy to imagine how people once lived, worked, and celebrated in such a warm atmosphere.
Among the many little details that bring the spirit of the past to life in ethno village Tiganjica, one simple toy caught my daughter's attention, a baby doll in a small washbasin. Long ago, children in Banat played with such toys, using everyday objects to spark their imagination. For my daughter, it was something new and fascinating. Watching her smile while discovering this old-fashioned play was a beautiful connection between past and present.
One of the most heartwarming moments was watching my kids enjoy themselves in the most simple ways. They swung happily on old wooden swings, laughed freely, and played with friendly little goats that wandered around the yard.
For adults, this is a place to relax and taste delicious Banat specialties, while for kids it is a safe space to explore, play, and feel free. Our day in Tiganjica was filled with tradition, nature, and happiness.
Tiganjica reminded me that true happiness often lies in the simplest moments and I’m sure that we should have more days like this during the year.
Thank you for your time.

Old yet it's a beautiful objects to look at..It doesn't get old and out of style. Each object is carefully hand crafted.
It's not old, they just arranged it to make it look old to show the tradition and how it used to be...
Nice place. You can see the provincial nature of the place and the ancient equipment. It's rare to find such things.
Yes, you're right, they tried to make it look that way and they succeeded

Yes, Tiganjica preserves the old lifestyle while inspiring the younger generation with its heritage..
Others are still searching for it, and that place could also be used in a movie.
