The church is also known as The Shrine of St. Anthony of Padua. It is known to both the locals and pilgrims around Eastern Visayas because of being miraculous. Saint Anthony of Padua is considered the patron saint for lost items, articles, people, or even spiritual goods. Many people visit the church to ask Saint Anthony even the most impossible wishes and the saint is believed to grant them.

The church is located in an island called Sulangan, Guiuan, Eastern Samar. It is located at the tip of Guiuan Peninsula and is connected to Samar via bridge. Which only means, the last barangay situated in Guiuan. It is the most visited church in Guiuan. A lot of tourist admired the church because of its historical significance and it was an honor for me that I've attended the 6AM mass during my stay in Guiuan.

I know in my heart that bearing a child comes in the right time once myself is ready to become a mother. However, I have already tried twice but both failed. Personally, I wished and prayed heartfully that though 2 angels of mine were taken away, someday soon, I hope to have the chance to hear my baby's cry and calling to embrace him/her in my arms close to my heart. I don't lose hope and I don't want to give up. I still believe in the power of miracle and to Saint Anthony De Padua.

After the mass, Sasha and her aunt took their time in giving away prayers to other saints by lighting a candle and an additional deep prayers for all of them. I also did not miss the chance, I lighted a candle and offer my prayers about what my heart desires. At this time too, few local tourists arrive to visit the church and also to light some candles.

Waking up as early as 4AM was worth it. Although the mass was held in their local dialect, I continued my prayers base on the words and usual mass I had on my own mother tounge. If you will to visit the church to attend the holy mass, you may bring a bible to catch up on the homily. As a catholic person myself, when it comes to religion, I don't hesitate to pay my respect and prayers to all of the saints wherever I am. Aside from being a local tourist to the place, I embrace the holiness of all the saints and the answers it brings to all of its devotees who deeply prayed for a miracle from Saint Anthony De Padua in Sulangan Church.

HOW TO GET HERE:

By Air

  • You have a lot of options to choose from. You may land at Tacloban Domestic Airport and from there, go to the nearest bus terminal.

By Land

  • From airport, you may ride passenger Van to Guiuan. Fare is approximately 280 pesos per head. Travel time may take 3 to 4 hours to Guiuan. However, if direct to Sulangan from Tacloban, I'm not quite sure about the fare but you may prepare 300 to 400 pesos with a travel time 4 to 5 hrs. But you can also ride jeepneys once you arrive at the proper town of Guiuan going to Sulangan.

By Ferry boats

  • If you are from Cebu City and would like to get to Samar via ferryboats, you can take the Cebu-Catbalogan route and purchase tickets from ferry outlets in Cebu City (via Roble Shipping Lines, Inc.). Sea travel takes at least seven (7) hours for large passenger ships. Look for vans at the terminal bound for Sulangan, Eastern Samar.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ❤️

This is part of my adventure in Guiuan. Personally, I am truly grateful that I've reach this far and visited Sulangan Church. I will never forget this and hopefully I can come back in my next visit to Samar.

If I was not told that I had been to the "last barangay in Eastern Samar" I wouldn't really notice how far I went to. I was really amazed. What hypes me more is the fact that we didn't drive by a car nor a van but only by the 3 wheeled motorcycle owned by @explorewithsasha 's father from the heart of the town of Guiuan to Sulangan. This has been truly one of the great travel I had and I'm very happy that I experienced this before my birthday.

Thank you for coming with me. Til our next tour! ⛪🗺️

Hi @jeennicious,
Great to see you using the #travelfeed tag! We launched the #travelfeed curated tag more than 3 years ago and have been supporting the best travel blogs on Hive ever since. But did you know that TravelFeed has evolved? Based on the feedback of thousands of Hive travel bloggers we created TravelFeed.io.

TravelFeed.io brings together all the benefits of Hive decentralized blogging with features that you as a travel blogger will love: Photo galleries, Instagram embeds, custom maps, automated adding to Pinmapple and more. We also offer many of the features you love on Peakd such as drafts and post scheduling. And if you want, you can even use our easy site builder to set up your own travel blog on your own domain which can be a great way to generate a passive income from your blog!

Unfortunately, focussing on developing the best platform for travelers means that we no longer curate the #travelfeed tag. But, you can log in with your Hive account on TravelFeed.io to publish your next travel post, and it will be posted to Hive automatically! Every day, we select the best posts and reward them with an upvote and added visibility.

We would love to see you on TravelFeed.io soon :)
