The Most Hated Place

I was so relieved and happy when I got home from vacation because I got to take a break, even if it was only for a short time. I still have a few days before I return to work. I still have a half-week to do whatever I want before returning to reality.

I remembered it was a beautiful Wednesday. I have plans for that day. I went to the PAG-IBIG Office to check on something and then went out to dinner with friends. My day was perfect. The following day...

On a Thursday morning, I woke up with a throbbing head and a terrible headache, but only on one side. I've never understood why, but I decided to ignore it. I kept up my routine and continued to write a blog.

Night came, but the pain persisted, which is unusual. It usually goes away after I drink plenty of water and rest. That night, I took pain relievers to help me sleep.

The next morning, I awoke with the same headache, but this time it was on the right side of my head. My right eye was also becoming itchy and watery.

It's turning reddish and extremely sensitive to light. I rush to the clinic, believing that the major pain is caused by my ears because I felt it was coming from that area rather than my head. I was referred to an ENT doctor and attended their clinics. Unfortunately, the clinic hours have passed, and the other does not accept walk-in patients. I returned home in the afternoon, filthy and in excruciating pain. I felt like I was about to pass out.

Another night has passed, and something very painful and swelling has appeared just above my right eyes. It's referred to as blisters. Saturday and Sunday were the most difficult days of my life. I'm not sleeping, and neither is my partner, who was worried about me. I can't finish my meal because I'm nauseated and dizzy.

On Monday, my partner drove me to the clinic for a consultation. I went with him, crying on the inside; I can't even speak properly because it hurts while I'm talking. I can't seem to open my eyes. I was wearing sunglasses and a cap to protect my eyes and head. When the doctor saw my situation, she immediately recommended that I be admitted to the hospital.

I'm not sure how or where I got it. According to the doctor, I had shringles. I haven't had shringles since I was a baby. It is a contagious viral infection. Days in the hospital provide me with relief and comfort in an unexpected way. But what I detested the most in the hospital was having to take so many medications at the same time every day.

Aside from the medication, I despise hearing other patients' cries and seeing them suffer. I despise the smell of various medications. This is my unusual kind of entry for #monomad challenge, which I have personally experienced and I wanted to share that tomorrow is very unpredictable hence we must prepare our self always. Because today you can be very fine, but the next day you're down. No one can ever tell.

I am partly to blame for the illness because I stopped taking vitamins last year. I've realized how vital it is to our system. It strengthens our immune system and keeps us from getting sick right away. It serves as a shield. So don't let your shield fall apart and don't forget to take your shield everyday. Millions of diseases are spreading around us, we got to takecare of ourselves because we have families to take care too.

I am currently recovering under home care and slowly healing the blisters. Just a favor, please take care everyone and don't forget to strengthen your SHIELDS always. Thank you for dropping by!🫰
