Golden Hour Over Panguil Bay - Sunset At Mindanao's Longest Bridge
Hello Hivers and hello to worldmappin community members as well. I am here once again to share my today's journey.
This just happened today when we traveled to Cagayan de Oro to spend the Holy Friday with the family. We chose to take the shortest and fastest route, and it was through the Panguil Bay Bridge.

Panguil Bay Bridge is a 3.77 km (2.34 mi) extradosed bridge that crosses the wide silvery Panguil Bay. The bridge connects Tangub City in Misamis Occidental and Tubod, a municipality in Lanao del Norte. It is the longest water-spanning bridge in Mindanao and the 8th longest bridge in the country. It reduces the travel time between Tangub City and Tubod from 2.5 hours to just a few minutes. This is quite interesting, right? and, of course, a great help for travelers aiming for faster and shorter journeys. On September 27, 2024, the bridge was formally inaugurated and opened to traffic.
When Mindanao's longest sea bridge opened for public use, I heard everybody share their attendance-checked visit to the Panguil Bay Bridge. Even my colleagues intentionally went there to take a pose on the new bridge, but I, who is not really into bridges and streets, was silently listening to their fun visit to Panguil. I had no interest in paying a visit just to take a photo of the said bridge.
Just today, April 17, 2025, around 4:30 in the afternoon, when we had to take the bridge to go to Cagayan de Oro City, since everybody was saying that it is the fastest route, which could save us around 2 hours of our journey.
At the entrance, it was just a typical bridge. On one side, mangroves and greenery are lush below the bridge, while on the other side is the silvery Panguil Bay, which is so inviting as the waves go back and forth. When we are about to come nearer to the center of the bridge, I notice two tall structures towering towards the sky, and also notice the beautiful sunset just above the left side sky of the bridge. Several lines of private cars and vehicles are parked on one side of the bridge, while many get out of their cars to capture the beautiful sunset of the Panguil Bay Bridge. Few people also had their afternoon jog as the sun was slowly fading from the blue skies.
They looked happy and had fun spending the sunset in the center of the longest bridge in Mindanao. It was then that I told my husband to stop for a while and witness the beautiful sight, though we never bothered ourselves to get out of our car. I took pictures right from the windshield and perhaps the cause of my not-so-vivid photos, but with our eyes, we vividly saw how beautiful the bridge was during sunset.
A lot of times, we don’t really notice the simple beauty around us until one special moment makes us see just how amazing it really is.
If you are still with me up to this point, thank you very much. Have a blessed and meaningful Holy Friday to one and all.
